PAT INTERNAL BATTERY
The Portable Appliance Tester contains an internal rechargeablebattery to maintain the memory when the unit is switched off. Inorder to ensure that this battery maintains operability the follow-ing procedure should be followed:
1. On receipt of the PAT tester, clear the memory and leave theunit switched on for 16 hours.
2. If the PAT will not be in use for weeks at a time the previoustest results should be downloaded onto a printer or computerprior to the unit being stored, otherwise the unit should beswitched on for 16 hours to ensure full charge.
3. If the PAT has not been used for some weeks, the battery canbecome heavily discharged, causing a possible loss of data. Iftest data is still intact it is advisable to download it. When the PATis known to be in a discharged state, power it up to charge thebattery for at least an hour prior to carrying out testing, or leave tocharge for 16 hours.
