Past Times MASSACHUSETTS SOCIETY OF GENEALOGISTS, INC. President's Message The Massachusetts Society of Genealogists, Inc. 1 Volume 9, Issue 1, September 2017 www.msoginc.org This is going to be a great year at the Massachusetts Society of Genealogists, Inc., and you are going to want to be a part of it. The 2016-17 membership year ended on 31 August. September first marks the beginning of a new membership year. Have you renewed yet? If not, you are technically no longer a member. Fortunately MSOG allows a grace period for renewals. BUT that grace period ends this month. You MUST have joined or renewed no later than 30 September in order to get member pricing on the Annual Meeting and Program, which will be held on 4 November at the Marlborough County Club. Joining or renewing early in the membership year also ensures that your subscription to the Society’s genealogical journal, MASSOG, continues uninterrupted, and helps both our chapter and the state board to budget for events and activities in the coming year. How do I renew or join? We make it as easy as we can for you to renew or join. If you will be present at one of the chapter meetings in September—that is, a regular meeting of the Bristol, Merrimack Valley, Middlesex, or Worcester chapter—you can give a check or cash—$25 for an individual membership—to your chapter’s membership director. At this time individual chapters are not equipped to process credit card payments in person. You can also renew online. Online payment may be made by credit card or PayPal, or you can mail a check. I’ve heard of some confusion about the online process, so I’m going to walk you through it step-by-step. You can join or renew online using virtually any device that connects to the internet, including your computer, your smartphone, or your tablet. Follow the steps along with me to renew.
