Introduction
LSE welcomes you to the largest Summer School of its kind in Europe now celebrating its 28th
year.
We now also want to welcome you to your new hall of residence and wish you a happy and
productive stay.
LSE halls are designed to help you make friends and be part of a first-class student community during
your studies. We do our best to make sure that your stay with us is rewarding, both socially and
academically.
The following pages will inform you of what to expect from your hall and the local area around it.
We look forward to your arrival at your hall over the Summer.
Welcome from your Warden
I would like to welcome you to Passfield Hall.
My name is Dr Richard Perkins and I am the
Warden of Passfield Hall. I am also an
Associate Professor at the LSE.
Passfield is an attractive Georgian building,
with its own enclosed garden. The hall is
extremely well-located in the heart of
Bloomsbury, famous for its museums, historic
parks and garden squares, and intellectual,
artistic and literary scene.
I hope you enjoy your stay at Passfield and,
moreover, take the opportunity to visit some
of the sights around the hall – including
Camden Market, the British Museum and
Covent Garden.
Dr Richard Perkins (Warden)

Passfield Hall
Passfield Hall is located near Russell Square
and Euston on a quiet Bloomsbury street. Its
excellent location and stunning garden make
it a very popular hall with LSE students.
The facilities are excellent and include a
common room equipped with TV, a pool table
and a piano. An inexpensive self-service
laundry and irons and ironing boards are also
available.
Passfield Hall is an exceptionally attractive
building. In the garden, bees are kept to
enrich the local ecosystem and is very popular
in warm weather.
