WE WILL NOW COMPARE THE WORKS OF THOSE WHO REMAINS IN DEATH AND THOSE WHO HAVE PASSED FROM DEATH TO LIFE.I. WHOSE WORK ARE YOU DESTROYING?-V 8•The purpose Jesus the Son of God appears is to destroy the works of the devil.•Luke 11:23 "He who is not with Me is against Me, and he who does not gather with Me scatters. II. HE WHO SINS REMAINS IN DEATH, WHOEVER HAS BEEN BORN OF GOD DOES NOT SIN-V 8-9•This signifies habitual sin.•We still commit sin occasionally by our own choice but not because we are bound on it.•We still live in our mortal bodies.•For His seed remains in him, he has been born of God

• 1Pe 1:23 having been born again, not of corruptible seed but incorruptible, through the word of God which lives and abides forever,

• Gen 39:9 "[There is] no one greater in this house than I, nor has he kept back anything from me but you, because you [are] his wife. How then can I do this great wickedness, and sin against God?"

III. WHOEVER DOES NOT PRACTICE RIGHTEOUSNESS REMAINS IN DEATH-V 10•Whoever does not practice righteousness is not of God.•Things right before God and His standards.•His works are evil-v 12IV. HE WHO DOES NOT LOVE HIS BROTHER/HATE HIS BROTHER REMAINS IN DEATH-V 10,14,15•A brother here signifies a fellow believer.•This is the main indicator that we have passed from death to life.•He who does not love his brother remains in death.•Those who hate his brother is a murderer-v 15•There’s no eternal life abiding in a murderer.

•You cannot appreciate God’s creation.•You cannot even see yourself what you look like and where you are.•Mat 4:16 The people who sat in darkness have seen a great light, And upon those who sat in the region and shadow of death Light has dawned." II. A LIGHT SERVES AS A GUIDE•1Jo 3:4 Whosoever committeth sin transgresseth also the law: for sin is the transgression of the law. •“Namartia” (Greek Word) for sin means to missed the mark

V. IF YOU ARE HATED BY THE WORLD, YOU HAVE PASSED FROM DEATH TO LIFE-V 13•John 15:18 "If the world hates you, you know that it hated Me before [it hated] you. • John 15:19 "If you were of the world, the world would love its own. Yet because you are not of the world, but I chose you out of the world, therefore the world hates you. •1Jo 2:15 Do not love the world or the things in the world. If anyone loves the world, the love of the Father is not in him. •Jam 4:4 Adulterers and adulteresses! Do you not know that friendship with the world is enmity with God? Whoever therefore wants to be a friend of the world makes himself an enemy of God.

VI. THOSE WHO HAVE PASSED FROM DEATH TO LIFE KNOWS LOVE AND KNOWS HOW TO LOVE-V 16•By this we know love because He laid his life for us•We also ought to lay down our lives for our brethren•1Jo 4:19 We love Him because He first loved us •This love is not just in word or in tongue but in deed and truth-v 19VII. THE MAIN EXPRESSION OF LOVE IS GIVING-V 17•Whoever has this world’s goods, and sees his brother in need, and shuts his heart from him, how does the love of God abide in him?•Satan came to steal or take, Jesus came to give, who are you like?

• If you are still stingy (KURIPOT), think about it because generosity is Christians’ identity.

• Pro 11:24 There is [one] who scatters, yet increases more; And there is [one] who withholds more than is right, But it [leads] to poverty.

• Pro 11:25 The generous soul will be made rich, And he who waters will also be watered himself.

• Pro 19:17 He who has pity on the poor lends to the LORD, And He will pay back what he has given.

• 2Cr 8:7 But as you abound in everything--in faith, in speech, in knowledge, in all diligence, and in your love for us--[see] that you abound in this grace also.

• Pro 3:27 Do not withhold good from those to whom it is due, When it is in the power of your hand to do [so].

VIII. WHOEVER BELIEVES IN JESUS HAVE PASSED FROM DEATH TO LIFE-V 23

• John 3:18 "He who believes in Him is not condemned; but he who does not believe is condemned already, because he has not believed in the name of the only begotten Son of God.

IX. HE WHO KEEPS HIS COMMANDMENT HAVE PASSED FROM DEATH TO LIFE-V 24

• Mat 7:21 "Not everyone who says to Me, 'Lord, Lord,' shall enter the kingdom of heaven, but he who does the will of My Father in heaven.

X. HE WHO HAS THE HOLY SPIRIT HAVE PASSED FROM DEATH TO LIFE-V 24.

CHALLENGE: •Can you now say that you have passed from death to life?•If not your religion is vain and your life is meaningless.CONCLUSION:1Jo 3:14 We know that we have passed from death to life, because we love the brethren. He who does not love [his] brother abides in death.
