Safety MomentSAMI standard practice is to start all meetings with a safety moment. This includesour internal meetings and meeting with clients. Here is a quick safety reminder for today: Use of electric cords and extension cords in a meeting room: an adequate number of electrical sockets should be provided and hopefully in a location so cords are not on the floor. Having table top access is preferred. Cords on the floor can definitely be a tripping hazard so we need to not run these cord across walkways or aisles. If you absolutely have to have a cord or extension cord on the floor, tape it down or provide a cord runner strip. Keep it safe! PAS55 Webinar November 20123 4. PAS55 UnderstandingWhat is the Value of PAS55 It is a set of systematic and coordinated activities and practices through whichan entire organization optimally manages its assets, and their associatedperformance, risks and costs, over their lifecycle. It forces the organization to work across its silos to define the overarchingoutcomes they agree to achieve over the life cycle of the assets, as well asintegrate and optimize the overall system of assets. It forces the organization to think in strategic time horizons for assetmanagement. It can facilitate the achievement of long term stretch objectives for assetperformance. It can drive continuous improvement through implementation of assetmanagement plans. It is designed to adjust policy, strategies, objectives and plans as theorganizations strategic plans evolve. PAS55 Webinar November 2012 10 11. PAS55 UnderstandingPAS55 Has Some Limitations It does not evaluate the quality of the strategies, objectives, and plans whichare developed. It does not require review of the efficiencies of the strategies, objectives andplans which are executed. To do this, a detailed data driven assessment needsto be performed and controls and monitoring put in place. It does not consider the underlying behaviors that are required to sustain highlevels of performance. It does not require meeting established and agreed performance objectives tobe deemed compliant, and does not require the establishment of world classobjectives. PAS55 Webinar November 201211 12.
