Brief Introduction
MAS Cables Limited is a subsidiary of Michelle Electrical Supplies (Hong Kong) Ltd. who has served Hong
Kong over twenty years since it established in 1981. In order to expand our services and take care our customers
the uttermost, MAS Cables was born to meet increasingly demand in building services. Our professional
staff plus our manufacturers with advanced technology and equipment will have a new look in the field.
This brochure covers the range of standard general wiring & power low voltage cables (Rated voltage <1000Volt)
used in building services, including conduit wirings, surface wirings, power cables, flexible cords and fire-
resistant cables. Another types of special cables such as high voltages cables ( Rated voltage up to 35kV),
rubber sheathed flexible cables, prefabricated branch cables, control cables, welding cables, mining cables,
oil pump cables & shipboard cables, etc. can be manufactured and where a project requires cables with special
properties or characteristics also consult with our experts.
MAS Cables has been accredited with global standards by SEV while our manufacturers also obtained DNV,
CNAB, CCC and certificates of ISO9001: 2000, ISO14001 : 1996 and OHSMS18001 : 2001.

it is better to consult with our experts before use.
Table 4B1 Current rating correct factors for groups of more than one circuit of single-core cables,
or more than one multi-core cable. (To be applied to the corresponding current-carrying
capacity for a single circuit in Tables 4D1 to 4D4, 4E1 to 4E4, 4F1, and 4F2, 4J1, 4K1 to
4K4, 4L1 to 4L4)**
34
* Spaced by a clearance between adjacent surfaces of at least one cable diameter (De). Where the horizontal
clearance between adjacent cables exceeds 2De, no correction factor need be applied.
**When cables having differing conductor operating temperatures are grouped together, the current rating shall
be based upon the lowest operating temperature of of any cable in the group.
Notes to Table 4B1
1. The factors in the table are applied to groups of cables all of one size. The value of current derived from
application of the appropriate factors is the maximum current to be carried by any of the cables in the group.
2. If, due to known operating conditions, a cable is expected to carry not more than 30% of its grouped rating,
it may be ignored for the purpose of obtaining the rating factor for the rest of the group.
For example, a group of N loaded cables would normally require a group reduction factor of Cg applied to the
tabulated It , however, if M cables in the group carry loads which are not greater than 0.3Cg It amperes the
other cables can be sized by using the group rating factor corresponding to (N-M) cables.

The tabulated figures of sustained current ratings for XLPE insulated 600/1000 cables with copper
conductors quoted from ERA 69-30 Pt.V are derived in calculation by assuming the following
standard conditions: -
a) Thermal resistivity of soil : 1.2 Km / W
b) Ground temperature : 15oC
c) Ambient air temperature : 25oC
d) Maximum sustained conductor temperature : 90oC
e) Depth of burial, from ground surface to : 500 mm
centre of cable, centre of duct to centreof trefoil group or duct
f) Current ratings based three customary installation methods :
1 ) Laid direct 2) In single way ducts & 3) In air
g) Single core cables installed in trefoil arrangement or in trefoil ducts.

Sustained current rating (Amperes) (50Hz)(Applied to our product 6942XL to 6944XL, 6942XLSOH to 6944XLSOH and 6942XFR to 6944XFR)
Notes
1. Generally, the current rating will be changed if there is a difference from the standard conditions. The
rating for most conditions can be calculated by multiplying the sustained current rating by factors(s) which
can be consulted with us.
2. In normal conditions, if a cable directly buried in the ground is operated under continuous load (100% load
factor) at the maximum conductor temperature, the thermal resistivity of the soil surrounding the cable
may, in the course of time, increase from its original value as a result of drying-out proccesses. As a
consequence, the conductor temperature may greatly exceed the maximum value. If such operating
conditions are foreseen, adequate provisions shall be made.
