Parramatta Light Rail Fact sheet Parramatta Light Rail is one of the State Government’s major public transport projects in Western Sydney, being delivered as part of a record $73 billion infrastructure program across NSW. Parramatta Light Rail Stage 1 will connect Westmead to Carlingford via Parramatta CBD and Camellia with a two-way track spanning 12 kilometres. Stage 2 will connect Parramatta CBD to Ermington, Melrose Park, Wentworth Point and Sydney Olympic Park along a 9 kilometre route. Key features of Stage 1 • Stage 1 will link Parramatta’s CBD to the Westmead Health Precinct, Parramatta North Urban Transformation Program, the new Western Sydney Stadium, a cultural hub including the Powerhouse Museum and Riverside Theatres, the private and social housing redevelopment of Telopea, Rosehill Gardens Racecourse, and three Western Sydney University campuses. • A 12 kilometre two-way track from Westmead to Carlingford, via Parramatta CBD. • 16 accessible stops integrated into the urban environment. • The network will operate seven days a week from 5am to 1am, with services approximately every 7.5 minutes from 7am to 7pm weekdays. • Modern, comfortable air-conditioned driver operated vehicles, 45 metres long carrying up to 300 passengers. • Interchanges with existing rail, bus and ferry terminals at Westmead, Parramatta CBD and Carlingford. • Integration with the Opal Card electronic ticketing system. • A new shared pedestrian and cycle path from Tramway Ave, Parramatta to Carlingford along the light rail route. Key features of Stage 2 • The preferred route connects to Stage 1 north of Parramatta River and runs east along South Street and Boronia Street to Melrose Park, south to Wentworth Point via Wharf Road and a new Parramatta River crossing, and on to Sydney Olympic Park to Carter Street. • Stage 2 will have a 9 kilometre two-way track and approximately 10-12 stops, with travel times of around 25 minutes from Olympic Park to Camellia, and a further 8 minutes to Parramatta CBD. • Stage 2 will connect to the future Sydney Metro West underground stations, heavy rail in Parramatta and Olympic Park, and ferry services at Rydalmere and Olympic Park. • Stage 2 will be further developed and informed by consultation with the community and stakeholders. • Consultation and further planning will inform a final decision on the Stage 2 route through Rydalmere or Camellia. • A Final Business Case for Stage 2 is expected to be completed in 2018, with an investment decision and details on the timing of construction to follow. • Find out more about Parramatta Light Rail and watch the animation on Stage 2 at: parramattalightrail.nsw.gov.au October 2017 Parramatta Light Rail parramattalightrail.nsw.gov.au [email protected] 1800 684 490
