Notes in the last week: COVID-19 Updates (email and social

WEEK 4 TERM 2 Commencing Monday 18th May 2020

Welcome to Week 4 of the term. It was so fantastic to have our children back at school last week, even it was for only one day per week. The children were happy, engaged and most importantly safe. We are hopeful that we can have all of the children back at school very shortly so we can resume our varied and engaging face to face learning experiences. We are expecting an update from the Premier in regards to what school will look like next week in the next couple of days. As soon as we get this information we will pass on how it impacts our community. We continue to be amazed by our community’s resilience and patience at this most difficult time. Week 4 learning continues with the Flexible Learning from Home model that essentially incorporates complete Online Learning for our students. Children will continue to access Google Classrooms supported by their teachers. It is important that children bring their devices (either personal or provided by the school) on the day they come to school, which will enable them to continue engaging learning experiences alongside their peers. Please consider the following as you plan for another unique week: What will Week 4 of Term 2 look like at Parkview Public School? Week 4 of the term (May 18-22) will look very similar to Week 3 of the term as we remain in Phase 1 of the Managed Return to School Strategy. The majority of NSW students will be learning from home. Schools will be open and operational for students that need to attend but where practical, parents are encouraged to keep their children at home.

Teachers will plan the same learning for students at school and at home.

The Premier and Minister for Education have announced a phased operating model for NSW schools during COVID-19. Phase 1 of the model sees students being reintroduced to some face-to-face learning on campus in Weeks 3 & 4 of the term.

At Parkview Public School this will be structured as follows: Tuesdays (continuing May 19): All Bradman students in Kindergarten to Year 6 Wednesdays (continuing May 20): All Freeman students in Kindergarten to Year 6 Thursdays (continuing May 21): All Thorpe students in Kindergarten to Year 6 Our Early Years Learning Program Bright Beginnings will also continue in its current format of children attending one day per week for this week. If you have any questions please contact the school. Students Attending School during Phase 1 of the Managed Return to School Strategy Students attending school on their scheduled days of Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday have been allocated to classrooms as outlined below. Students will not necessarily see their teacher face to face but teachers will be monitoring their classes online and supporting classes if they are not scheduled to be on site on the day your child is at school. Playgrounds will be open as usual (with enhanced cleaning practises), with children encouraged to leave their bags at their classrooms and play as usual until the bell goes before going to their classrooms.

Winhangara Playgroup 0-5 Years – TEMPORARILY CEASED Winhangara Playgroup has been temporarily ceased as the school works with the Department of Education and NSW Health around the most appropriate strategies to implement in schools to help slow the spread of the COVID-19 pandemic. We will keep our participants updated regarding a return of our playgroup as soon as we can recommence it. We will continue to keep our community informed of changes to events as they become available. Golden Apple Docket Fundraiser A huge thank you is extended to the generous owners of the Golden Apple Supa IGA who have again made a significant donation to our school community via their Shopper Docket Fundraiser. School received a cheque for just shy of $1,000 which directly reflects the shopper dockets that have been received by the school throughout the 2019 School Year. To help us raise even more money in 2020, please keep your Golden Apple shopping dockets and place them in the container at the front office. This is a great way to raise funds for our students. Parkview Public School receives 5c from every ten dollars collected.
