“Summer Splash” is produced by the City of Orillia Parks and Recreation Department and is printed by the Orillia Packet & Times. Department staff have worked hard to ensure this guide is accurate. However, due to the seasonal format we follow, changes might occur after we have gone to press. If you have any ideas or suggestions on how to improve the brochure, please contact the Parks and Recreation Department at 705-329-7250.

Additional copies of this brochure are available from the Parks and Recreation of ce at 50 Andrew St. South, Suite 300, Orillia or check out our online version at www.orillia.ca

A non-resident is defined as anyone who does not pay taxes directly to the City of Orillia. The programs offered by the Parks and Recreation Department are subsidized by municipal taxes, so we keep the cost as low as possible for those who already contribute to the municipal tax base. Twenty five per cent will be added to the registration costs of non-residents. The Parks and Recreation Department reserves the right to request proof of residency.

PRESCHOOL 4 (AGE: 3Y-5Y)Advanced preschoolers will learn to do solo jumps into deeper water and get out by themselves. They will do side roll entries and open their eyes underwater. They will master a short (3–5 m) swim on their front and gliding and kicking on their side.

PRESCHOOL 5 (AGE: 3Y-5Y)These youngsters get more adventuresome with a forward roll entry wearing a PFD and holding their breath underwater for up to 10 sec. They will work on longer front and back crawl swims, interval training and get a giggle out of whip kick.

SWIMMER 1 (AGE: 6Y-12Y)These beginners will become comfortable jumping into water with and without a Personal Flotation Device. They’ll learn to open their eyes, exhale and hold their breath underwater. They’ll work on oats, glides and kicking through the water on their front and back.

TSN - TOTAL SPORTS-NUT CAMP (6Y-13Y)This summer sports camp has all the most intense sports, all in one place! This camp will be like watching the highlight reel on the sports network. Kids of all athletic abilities and skill levels will be challenged as they learn a variety of sports including: rock climbing, tennis, soccer, lacrosse, rugby, ag football and even some new ones!

Each day your camper will be challenged with new skills and drills and we’ll have them learning new techniques in otherwise familiar sports. We’ll introduce some wacky new sports…Soccer with a square ball? Blind volleyball? 3-legged football? You’ll have to see it to believe it. Sportsmanship and teamwork is unavoidable!

Extended care is available for this camp.

TOO KEWL COOKING SKEWL (7Y-10Y)Stir up your child’s creativity as they dig right into the “kewl”-inary arts. This camp is a “hands-on” experience that has been designed to get your Jr. Chefs comfortable in the kitchen, try new foods and most of all inspire kitchen creativity.

Kids will learn to make all the dishes from scratch and learn about the different uses of utensils, cooking vocabulary, kitchen safety and hygiene, how to properly measure dry and liquid ingredients, how to follow a recipe, table etiquette and much more, all the while learning about good nutrition. Kids will enjoy the dishes, and have the recipes to take home.

Too Kewl Cooking Skewl will familiarize your child with different foods, as they discover what it’s like to create and taste scrumptious recipes from scratch and select the ingredients that they need to make healthy choices and tasty food for the whole family. Please remember this camp is a Peanut-Safe Zone!

Extended care is available for this camp.
