PAUL „The love of God has been poured into our hearts by the Holy Spirit which has been given to us.‟ To celebrate Lent well, we need frequent reminders that Lent was originally the final period of the early Catechumens‘ preparation for Baptism. But we who are already baptized need this preparation as much as the Catechumens. We need the understating of all aspects of Baptism, and above all, we need the conversion to Christ, that was not part of our consciousness when we were baptized as infants. God has done great things for us. Yet, how often like the Israelites do we put the Lord to the test by saying ―Is the Lord with us, or not?‖ St. Paul reminds us: ―The love of God has been poured into our hearts by the Holy Spirit which has been given to us.‖ The Samaritan woman at the well, recognized Jesus as the ‗Messiah‘ and her heart being made aware of his infinite goodness and love, rushes off to reveal this to the villagers; thus enabling her to become an apostle leading them to Christ, before any of the Chosen Twelve. Entrance Antiphon: My eyes are ever fixed on the Lord, for he releases my feet from the snare. O look at me and be merciful, for I am wretched and alone. 1st Reading: Exodus 17:3-7 Psalms 94:1-2, 6-9 Responsorial Psalm: If today you hear his voice, harden not your hearts. 2nd Reading: Romans 5:1-2, 5-8 Gospel Acclamation: Glory to you, Word of God, Lord Jesus Christ! Lord, you are truly the Saviour of the world; give me living water, that I may never thirst again. Glory to you, Word of God, Lord Jesus Christ! Gospel: John 4:5-42 Before Communion: Lord, by the grace of this sacrifice may we who ask forgiveness be ready to forgive one another. Communion Antiphon: Whoever drinks the water that I shall give him, says the Lord, will have a spring inside him, welling up for eternal life. After Communion: Lord, in sharing this sacrament may we receive your forgiveness and be brought together in unity and peace.
