CATECHISM—WHAT WE BELIEVE What does the Gospel teach about the mysteries of the birth and infancy of Jesus? At Christmas the glory of heaven is shown forth in the weakness of a baby; the circumcision of Jesus is a sign of his belonging to the Hebrew people and is a prefiguraon of our Bap- sm; the Epiphany is the manifestaon of the Messiah King of Isra- el to all the naons; at the presentaon in the temple, Simeon and Anna symbolise all the ancipaon of Israel awaing its encounter with its Saviour; the flight into Egypt and the massacre of the inno- cents proclaim that the enre life of Christ will be under the sign of persecuon; the departure from Egypt recalls the exodus and pre- sents Jesus as the new Moses and the true and definive liberator. ****************************************************************************** Programme in Preparaon for Christmas and for the Christmas Season Saturday 16 December, Confessions, 5.30-6pm; Vigil Mass, 6.30pm; Sunday 17 December, Third Sunday of Advent – Mass, 10am; 12noon&6pm Monday 18 December – Confessions, 8-8.30am; Mass, 9am; Tuesday 19 December – Confessions, 8-8.30am; Mass, 9am and 7.30pm followed by Devoons to St Anthony & Benedicon Wednesday 20 December – Confessions, 8-8.30am; Mass 9am; 7pm – Carol Concert Thursday 21 December – Mass 9am; Friday 22 December— Confessions, 8-8.30am; Mass, 9am; Saturday 23 December – Confessions, 9-9.30am; Mass, 10am; Rehearsal for Christmas Family Mass, 11am; 2pm cleaning of the church.
