"Resolve never to quit, never to give up, no matter what the Situation." Jack Nicklaus Mr Rock’s favourite quote. Learner of the Month Winner - April 2021 Our Learner of the Month Winner for April 2021 was Henry Thomas - 8TX for his outstanding effort in English. Congratulations also go to the many other students who were nominated in April 2021. We had over 17 nominations during April 2021 which is fantastic. All students who received a nomination will receive a letter home from the Head Teacher explaining who nominated them and why. May 2021 Update As we edge closer to the end of this academic year, it is with more and more certainty that we can start to see things getting back to normal as restrictions are slowly lifted. As from Monday 17 May 2021, face masks are no longer required to be worn in secondary schools by students which I am sure many of our students will be pleased about. It has not always been easy, but we have all tried to do the right thing, based on government advice and we would like to thank you all for your support during this time. As you will know, our PE Changing Rooms re-open on Monday 17 May 2021 and students will no longer be allowed to attend school in their PE kit on the days they have PE and they will be expected to get changed in the changing rooms as they have done previously. Please be reassured that we would not have taken this decision unless we thought it was safe to do so. Some changes made during lockdown will however be remaining such as our Virtual Parents’ Evenings as feedback from both staff and parents/carers indicates this works really well. We are also pleased to let you know that Dormston School will now be donating any leftover sandwiches from our lunchtime service to a charity called BWO Outreach who feed the homeless, vulnerable adults and children, as well as victims of domestic violence and their children. Thank you to Mrs Pooni our Ca- tering Manager for the work she has been doing with this charity over the last lockdown and for coming up with this great suggestion! Can we remind Parents/Carers that school will be closed for May Half Term from Monday 31 May to Friday 4 June 2021.
