Preparing Children for a Successful Future
Dear Parents/Carers
Welcome to Clifton with Rawcliffe Primary School. We hope that this brochure gives you an
insight into this wonderful school. We are proud of the achievements of the school and the strong
relationships that are the foundation of the school’s successes. We look forward to meeting you
and welcoming your child in to the school.
This school was designed, built and opened in September 2011. It is a unique place where learning
and teaching ensures each child makes the best progress possible and fulfils their potential, in a
stimulating and creative environment with exceptional facilities.
Each child is special and valued, and we are proud of the warm and positive relationships we have
with families and the local community. We welcome visits to the school and ask simply that you
contact us to make an appointment if you wish to meet with a member of the senior leadership
team. Gill Johnson, our Head of Business and Operations (with responsibility for liaising with
parents), is the person to contact to arrange this. Gill will ensure your needs are met as best she
can.
Our ultimate aim is to ensure every child develops the skills and positive attitudes to learning that
will stay with them on their journey through school and beyond. We want to instil a love of
learning and a willingness to be challenged and to see it through. We aim to develop resilience and
wellbeing that will equip each child through life. We want to ensure every child is ready for
secondary school.
This is an open school, designed to foster creative teaching and learning inside and outside the
school building. We believe this will encourage independence and self-confidence.
This booklet provides you with some general information about the school and we hope that you
find this useful. There is a brief overview of the curriculum and some key policies parents and
carers need to know on the school website.
Please contact the school if you need any further information.
Best wishes
Andy Herbert
Headteacher
Preparing Children for a Successful Future
Clifton with Rawcliffe School exists to help prepare each individual child for their future
educational, working and social life, in a world that is rapidly changing.
The main aim of the school is to provide a happy and stimulating atmosphere in which each child is
able to work at their own ability level and reach a high standard of achievement. Success in all
areas of school life will be valued and praised. We also want to celebrate achievements outside
the school.
Our Core Values
We believe we should show these attitudes and actions towards each other and our work:
1. Be respectful of others: ‘treat others as you wish to be treated’.
2. Approach life with resilience; believe in yourself and challenge yourself.
3. Work as a team and show friendship towards one another.
4. Be independent, organised and try to solve your own problems where possible.
5. Be responsible x 3 (for your words, actions and belongings).

Preparing Children for a Successful Future
If your child has a long-term illness such as epilepsy or asthma and requires medication on
an infrequent and irregular basis you should contact the school. The school is advised that
it should only accept responsibility where specific guidance has been received on the
nature of the emergency and the procedure necessary to cope with it.
A copy of the Managing Medicines in School Policy, which outlines the Clifton with
Rawcliffe Primary School practices and procedures relating to administering medicines, is
available on request.
This handout aims to inform you of your responsibilities with regard to supporting this
policy in school.
• Medication will not be accepted without complete written and signed instructions
from the parent/guardian. The relevant forms are available from the School
Office.
• Forms must also be completed for longer term medication i.e. Inhalers,
epi-pens. Doctors will usually prescribe extra supplies of medication that can be
kept in school.
• Medicines should only be brought into school when prescribed by a doctor and
required 4 times a day.
• Medicines must be handed in at the School Office in the containers in which they
were supplied showing the doctors label. Only a reasonable amount of medicine
should be handed in at any one time.
• Medicine containers should be clearly labelled with:
the child’s name and learning Group
the name of medicine,
dosage and frequency
date of dispensing
storage instructions
and expiry date
• School will not accept unlabelled items of medication.
• School can only follow the instructions on the bottle/packet. Changes to dosage can
only be made in accordance with instructions on the dispensed container or written
instruction from a doctor.
ADMINISTERING MEDICINES IN SCHOOL
Preparing Children for a Successful Future
• Pupils will be issued on a daily basis (for the duration of the medicine) an
identification band, this will be filled out by parents and placed on pupils wrist and
then removed at the end of the school day. School staff will not be able to
administer any medicine without this procedure in place.
• It is the responsibility of the parent to ensure that all medication is up to date (eg.
Expiry of inhalers, epi-pens)
• Unused medicine must be collected and taken home when requested.
Other ways in which you can support school are:
• Make sure your child is fit and well enough to attend school.
• If your child brings lozenges / Lip balm to school these must be given to their
teacher for safe keeping and supervision
• Provide full details, in writing, of any health problems he/she may have. Keep the
school informed of any changes.
• Provide full written details of any special religious and/or cultural beliefs which may
affect any medical care that the child receives, particularly in the event of an
emergency.
• All information should be provided as soon as possible, to allow the school sufficient
opportunity to plan and prepare how they can meet your child’s needs.
• Make every effort to attend meetings requested by the school and co-operate in
drawing up the Individual Health Care Plan (if applicable).
• Ensure the school has a telephone number where you can be contacted in
emergencies. Have you changed your mobile phone?
Thank you in anticipation for noting your responsibilities and helping us maintain the health
and safety of all pupils in our care.
Preparing Children for a Successful Future
Admission Arrangements The children attending Clifton with Rawcliffe Primary School usually live in the Parishes of Rawcliffe and
Clifton Without. Parents and children who live outside the area normally served by the school but who wish
to enrol at Clifton with Rawcliffe should contact both the school and the Access Team at City of York
Council. City of York Council will notify school places in the April prior to the September intake. Appeals will
be heard in the June.
FS1 (Nursery)
Entry to the FS1 unit is in the September prior to the child’s fourth birthday. The children can attend
either a morning session, afternoon session or full day provision. When a parent registers a child they are
asked to complete an admission form (plus copy of birth certificate and proof of address). Parents are then
contacted at the beginning of the Summer Term and offered available sessions. Should first choice sessions
be oversubscribed an alternative will be offered. When one place is available and there are two children
with the same date of birth, preference is given to the family that registered for FS1 first.
Parents can first register their child at 2 years old. It is a statutory requirement that the school must see
the child’s birth certificate and proof of address, such as a utility bill or council tax letter.
Children’s names are placed in chronological age order on a waiting list. Supply of places may not always
match the demand and a full admissions policy is available separately on request. We will endeavour to offer
an equal amount of sessions to all catchment children in the first instance. If any sessions are still available,
additional sessions (initially up to a total maximum of 5) will be offered, again in chronological order. Once
all catchment children have been placed, any vacant sessions will be offered, in chronological order, to
children that live out of the school catchment but have an older sibling already attending the school. If at
this point any sessions still remain, places will be offered to children outside of our catchment area without
a sibling in school.
School
Children are admitted to school (Foundation Stage 2) in the September prior to their child’s fifth birthday.
Parents requiring a school place only are also asked to complete an admissions form (plus copy of birth
certificate) when their child reaches the age of 2 or as soon after in order to help with forward planning.
Before your child starts school you will be invited to three information meeting and taster sessions. During
these you will have the opportunity to meet your child’s main teacher, and try a taster menu from our school
meal provider ISS. You will also have a short talk by the Foundation Stage Phase Leader and the
Headteacher on the ethos of the Foundation Stage in school.
Further Transition Meetings for parents are held as children move through school. Transition is high priority
in school, we are very aware that it must be handled sympathetically. The liaison, which goes on informally
throughout the year, helps the smooth transfer of the children from each of the Key Stages.
ADMISSIONS
Preparing Children for a Successful Future
At Clifton with Rawcliffe Primary School we take bullying very seriously. All staff do their utmost to ensure
that it does not happen but sadly instances do occur. We encourage children to let staff know immediately if
anyone is intimidating them either physically or verbally. If you have any concerns please contact school. An
anti-bullying policy is in place and strictly adhered to.
• For the safety of all children would all drivers exercise care when parking on or near Eastholme
Drive.
• The vehicle access gate is automatic and is locked from 8.20am – 8.50am during drop off times.
Access is then possible from 8.50am – 3pm via an intercom system. At 3pm they are once again
locked until 3.30pm. If health restrictions prevent parents/carers from parking on Eastholme Drive,
or at the Park & Stride situated at Rawcliffe Recreation Centre, then parents/carers must ensure
they arrive / leave the car park outside of the locked down periods.
• For safety please enter and leave the school grounds via the footpath/cycle path from Eastholme
Drive or Park & Stride rear entrance. The footpath also has an electric gate which is open until 9am
each morning. From 9am until 3pm it is accessible via an intercom system. After 3pm it remains open
to enable collection of children. The cycle entrance and rear Park & Stride entrance are only open
during morning and afternoon drop off & collections times.
• If any different collecting arrangements are made for children in FS & KS1, please notify the school
office as we do not allow unauthorised adults to take children home.
In response to wishes expressed by the majority of parents, the Governing Body stipulates that all pupils
attending the school should wear a uniform as follows:
The Governing Body reserves the right to request that items considered inappropriate by the Headteacher
are not worn at school unless agreed for a non-uniform day.
Sweatshirts / Polo Shirts with the school badge are available to order online, details are included in the
proforma section of this pack.
Pupils, in the interests of safety, are expected to wear dark coloured sensible and appropriate footwear
(preferably black). This may include plain open toed sandals during the summer term only, however, flip-flops
/ Crocs and all shoes that cannot be fastened around the back are not to be worn to school and please ensure
that socks are worn at all times. Training shoes are not permitted for everyday use but can of course be

worn during P.E. or at break time. Sportswear such as replica football shirts and tracksuit trousers are not
allowed for normal everyday use.
Partially shaved hair styles are not permitted in school. This includes shaved patterns in the hair line. Dyed
hair whether permanent or temporary is not to be worn to school and nail varnish is also not permitted. We
recommend that all hair longer than shoulder length is tied back during the school day.
One of the main reasons that parents and Governors settled on the uniform code of dress was that it helped
prevent arguments between parents and children over clothing for school. It is a self-supporting system. If a
child is allowed to wear alternative clothes this often undermines the efforts of other parents.
The Governing Body has been concerned that certain children have been verbally bullied due to the fact they
do not have designer items for P.E. They feel the only solution to this problem is insisting on a standard non-
designer P.E. kit. This will consist of the following inexpensive items but excludes training shoes as they
inevitably have a designer logo.
PE / GAMES - For indoor work children have bare feet and require navy blue or black shorts and a plain
white crewneck T- shirt. For outdoor work they require warm navy blue, black or dark grey jogging trousers
and sweatshirt (without hood) and trainers. For hygiene reasons we stress the importance of a change of
clothing for P.E. and Games lessons. As with any item of clothing all P.E./Games kit should be marked with
your child's name and kept in a named drawstring or similar bag. Due to space restrictions we discourage
large sports holdalls or rucksacks.
FOREST SCHOOL – Children visit our forest School area all year round and in all weathers. Ideally they
need a waterproof jacket and trousers that will completely cover their school uniform. All children need a
pair of wellington boots that can be permanently left in school as these may be stored in our outside
changing rooms and are not easily accessible at the end of the school day. Forest School kit should be kept
in our named drawstring Forest School Bag which is available to order on line from our on line school shop at
http://www.school-shop.co.uk (details can be found in the proforma section of this pack)
In the interests of safety and to comply with LEA guidelines, we request that jewellery not be worn in
school. `Medic-Alert' bracelets/necklaces and Chew Bracelets are exceptions to this rule. If you are
considering having your child’s ears pierced the most appropriate time is the first week in the summer
holidays. This causes least disturbance to school routine. Please take note that if children are unable to
remove their own earrings they will not be permitted to participate in PE / Games / Sports. Watches
may only be worn by children once they have learnt to tell the time.
The school meets the requirements of the 1988 Education Reform Act with Collective Worship taking place
on a weekly basis: the acts of worship are strictly non-denominational. Parents do have the right to ask for
their child to be withdrawn should the beliefs of the family be offended by the child's participation. If
parents do wish to withdraw their children from acts of worship they should contact the Headteacher.
COLLECTIVE WORSHIP

Preparing Children for a Successful Future
During the school year Teachers organise various educational visits, both in the local area and further afield.
Children in Y6 are also invited to take part in a residential visit. Parents with questions about charging
or the remission of charges should see the Headteacher.
Regulations made under the Government's 1988 Education Reform Act stipulate that we can ask for
voluntary financial contributions. The school asks for a £22 contribution towards all enrichment activities
(collected at the start of each school year) letters are sent to parents before each event takes place. These
will provide details of the event and the relevant costings.
Children may also be invited to visit other schools to play games, take part in rehearsals etc.
Various clubs are offered at lunchtimes and after school these may include Choir, Gardening, Forest Schools,
Art, Football, Rugby and Netball. These activities are all offered, on a voluntary basis, by teachers, in their
own time. Individual music tuition for Keyboard, Drums, Guitar and Woodwind is also available on a private
basis during the school day. The school regularly enters teams into a variety of inter-school competitions.
Most games take place outside normal school hours are we ask that, where possible, parents transport their
child to & from these events..
Your child will bring home a parental consent form if the club is meeting after school hours. You are asked
to read, sign and return the pro-forma to the relevant teacher if you wish your child to participate.
The school is governed by quite definite regulations regarding the granting of authorised absence. A note or
form from parents detailing the reasons behind the absence must cover each absence. On the advice of the
Department for Education and Employment parents should, whenever possible, try to take family holidays out
of term time. A misconception exists that all children have an automatic right to ten school days holiday.
This is not however the case. An absence request form must be completed and forwarded to the school
seven days before the absence. One copy is in the pro forma section of this; further copies are available
from the school office.
Each case will be judged on its individual merits and absences can only be authorised in exceptional
circumstances. Though we always do try to co-operate with requests, authorised absence cannot
unfortunately be granted automatically. It is up to parents to make a case for taking the child out of school.
The Department for Education and Employment does not consider expense or working patterns to be an
acceptable reason. Parents are encouraged to telephone to make an appointment to discuss absence with the
Headteacher if they have any doubts. Please be aware that absence requests for 5 days or over may result
in a penalty notice (fine) being issued by City of York Council.

ABSENCE REQUESTS
Preparing Children for a Successful Future
It is essential that children attend school during the STA tests taken in May each year.
This is especially important for Year 2 and Year 6 children.
The Home/School Agreement was introduced to help parents, pupils and school understand what is expected
of them. Please see the Proforma Section.
Teachers ask children to learn vocabulary, spellings, multiplication tables, number bonds etc. on a regular
basis. Children are also asked, and expected, to undertake small “research projects", such as looking at the
range of plants and wild-life in their home gardens. Reading is an activity, which is regarded of very high
importance by the school, and it is hoped that children will read their home reading books with an adult at
least 3 times per week, and visit the school library making use of the extensive and continually growing
provision.
Please see the Homework Policy on the school website for more details.
Items of “lost" clothing are initially kept in the phase unit until the end of the week. Items are then taken
to the school office where they will be kept for a further 2 weeks after which time unclaimed items will be
disposed of. If all items are marked with your child’s name the speedy return of lost and expensive items is
ensured. Sweatshirts and lunchboxes are very similar and those that do not contain a child’s name cause us
the most problems. If your child loses anything please contact the school office who will help in trying to
trace the item.
Packed lunches must be provided in a pack up box or a Tupperware type with a sealable lid (no rucksacks
please). If using individual containers please ensure that your child is able to open them independently if
possible. Please ensure all drinks are in plastic containers, for safety reasons, and ensure that both box and
bottle are clearly labelled with your child’s name. Although, we cannot dictate, we do promote healthy eating
and would advise giving the children food which is of a healthy nature. For younger children please ensure
that all small fruit is cut in half (including grapes, plums, strawberries etc). Again for safety reasons we
ask that cutlery is not included in pack up boxes. If your child needs cutlery the dinner staff will
provide this on request.

When money needs to be sent to school for Enrichment, clubs, school lunches etc. please send it in an
envelope marked with your;
• Child’s name
• Child’s learning Group
• The amount enclosed
• The reason for sending the money
Dinner Money is payable on the first Monday of each month with meals being paid for in advance. Cheques
for dinner money should be made payable to ISS Mediclean or paid on-line at
www.feedinghungryminds.co.uk. We ask parents to pay for school meals a month or term in advance. The
cost of a hot lunch is £2.40 per day, lunch for the week is £12.00. Nursery dinners cost £2.10 per day,
lunch for the week is £10.50. Children in FS2 and KS1 are entitled to free school dinners. Any money sent via
school should be handed to your child’s teacher in a sealed envelope with their name and learning group
clearly marked.
.
Parents are asked to help during educational visits and in some school activities (parents will not be placed in
their own child’s individual group). We believe that parents can bring valuable help, support and specific
expertise into school. Please let us know if you have any hidden talents which might be useful to us in school,
or if you can offer us some time on a regular or occasional basis as we are always grateful for offers of help.
Teachers will use their professional judgement in using parental help. Please email Mrs O’Brien,
[email protected] if you wish to apply to volunteer. All volunteers in school are required to
complete a DBS check.
During the year you will be invited to various special events including concerts, sports and some seasonal
events.
Teachers, given reasonable notice, are always available to discuss your child's progress or any problems or
concerns. Please do not hesitate to e mail or telephone school or contact a member of staff personally to
arrange an appointment should the need arise.
Parent consultations are held in the Autumn and Spring terms to enable both parents and staff to meet and
discuss the children. An interim report will be issued at both these consultations and a full report on each
child’s progress will be provided to parents in the Summer term. This will contain targets for each child and
will form the basis for discussion with your child’s new teacher. We encourage children in years 2 – 6 to
attend the consultations with their parents.
We also hold occasional evenings to update parents on new initiatives in learning. Recent meetings have
focussed on Numeracy and Key Stage 2 STA tests. For their information, parents receive, by email, a phase
newsletter each week and a termly newsletter from the Headteacher.
If your child does not arrive at school by 9.15 a.m. and we have not received any notification of illness and
authorised absence has not been requested, a member of the office staff will send out a text message. If
we do not receive a reply they will then ring your home/mobile to clarify the situation. If they are not
unable to contact you the emergency contact numbers will be rung. If they still have not made contact with

anyone and have no knowledge of your child’s whereabouts, we will visit your home to find out if you are in.
If this is unsuccessful, we will then telephone the police to inform them. This is good practice from a
safeguarding point of view and follows advice supplied to schools.
If you are letting the school office know about an absence, please do so on the school sickness line (01904
555231) before 9.15am. If you are replying to a text message you have received, please phone the main
school number (01904 555230). Please do not use class DoJo.
Rewards - Clifton with Rawcliffe has a whole school reward policy in operation to promote positive aspects of
school life. The Carson Cup (UKS2), The Paylor Plaque (LKS2) and The Sawdon Shield (FS and KS1) which is
awarded each week to a pupil who has, in the judgement of his/her teacher, made considerable progress in
one or more aspects of their performance in school. The cup is presented in assembly.
“Star of the week” certificates, are also awarded on a weekly basis to one pupil from each learning group
who has, in the judgement of his/her teacher, made considerable progress in one or more aspects of their
performance in school. The certificates are also presented in assembly. In addition to this, we would also
like to further share with you your child’s achievements and may send out a “Well Done Postcard” via the
postt detailing your child’s success either socially or academically to reward good behaviour and effort. We
have the “DoJo” system which is an interactive visual reward system for children. Parents are able to access
their child’s DoJo account at home and will receive log on details from school.
Sanctions – Clifton with Rawcliffe has a whole school behaviour & sanction policy in operation to promote
positive behaviour and ensure consistency throughout the year groups. A complete behaviour policy is
available on our school website, www.cwr.york.sch.uk
When your child enters the Foundation Stage you will be asked to check and if necessary update the
information we hold regarding your child, for example, emergency contacts & medical details. After this
time we rely on parents to notify us of any changes. (A Change of Contact and Administering Medicines form
can be found in the Proforma section of this information pack). It is vital that we hold the most update
contact information for parents at all times. We must be able to get in touch with you speedily should the
need arise. It is also imperative that you inform us of any allergies that you child suffers from.
If your child has a medical appointment or needs to visit an emergency dentist during the school day would
you please inform the school office (dental check-ups should be made outside of the school day). If your
child is taken out during the school day please sign them out at the main office and obtain an absence pass.
Children will need to be signed back in on their return.
We are supported by the Local Authority School Health Team. School Health Assistants visit school to
monitor your child’s hearing, vision, height and weight. These visits take place when your child is in FS2, KS1
and Year 6. If you have any concerns and would like to contact the school health team please ring the Family
Information Service on 01904 554444.

The school cannot accept any responsibility for valuable items brought into school. Incidents of theft are
very rare but they do occur.
Children are not allowed to bring mobile phones into school. However, we realise there are exceptional
circumstances when a parent needs to be in touch with their child, e.g. to change arrangements for picking up
from school or when children begin to walk to/from school without an adult. If this is the situation, children
must bring their phone to the school office each morning to be kept in a locked drawer, phones can be
collected at the end of the day.
All children have been provided with their own locker to make better use of space within the school. It also
makes for a much tidier building.
In line with recent research on optimising children’s learning, we have provided all children with access to
chilled, filtered water during the day. This prevents pupils and staff from becoming dehydrated and is
especially important for effective brain functioning. All children are provided with a bottle when they join
school - if this is lost the school will provide a replacement for a fee of £1.50. Only water bottles provided
by school should be used due to the difficulty of storage within classrooms. Bottles will be brought home by
individual pupils on Friday evenings to be washed out.

The information in this booklet is correct at the time of printing in relation to the school year September
2019 – July 2020.
It should not be assumed that there could be no subsequent change affecting the relevant arrangements
before the start of, or during, the year in question.
The Department for Education and Science require that the school prospectus set out the arrangements so
that parents can ensure that a complaint is fully considered. If parents are concerned about any aspect of
the school curriculum and related matters then they should discuss it informally with the Headteacher. If
this cannot resolve the issue then the matter may be the subject of a formal complaint under Section 23 of
the Education Reform Act 1988, and, if appropriate, referred to the Governing Body. If the Governing Body
fails to provide a response satisfactory to the complainant, the complaint will be referred to the Pathfinder
Multi Academy Trust Board (full details are in the PMAT Complaints Procedure on the Trust website). The
ultimate step is to complain to the Secretary of State for Education but all the steps outlined above will
have to have been taken before he can entertain the complaint.
(These arrangements do not cover complaints about the actions of individual teachers or the Headteacher).
The School welcomes children with all disabilities, subject to the limitations of the building. The school has
drawn up an Access Plan that will enable us to comply as closely as possible with the requirements of the
Special Educational Needs, Code of Conduct 2014.
The requirements of KS1 & KS2 pupils with Special Educational Needs are planned for by Co-ordinator Mrs
Kyene Paton-Campbell. In Early Years (FS1 & FS2) Miss Laura Swales is the Co-ordinator, they are
responsible for the day to day running of the school’s policy which involves a wide range of activities:
• Liaising with pupils, parents, teachers, support assistants, LA support services etc.
• Helping teachers to draw up IEP's (Individual Education Programmes) for each pupil with special
needs.
• Reviewing the wealth of books, computer software, new research etc that regularly appears in school
and needs to be evaluated.
• Budgeting for the equipment used for pupils with Special Educational Needs.

Preparing Children for a Successful Future
Changes made by the Department for Education, (DfE), will impact the way in which any requests for
leave of absence in term time will be dealt with. These changes come into effect from September
2013 and apply nationally.
The changes mean that Headteachers will not be able to authorise any requests for leave of absence in
term time unless in exceptional circumstances.
In deciding whether to authorise a request for leave of absence, the Headteacher will also consider:
1. Your child’s current attendance record
2. The time of the school year
PLEASE REMEMBER:
• The School strongly recommends that you avoid important Test Dates i.e. May.
• Time off for holidays is not an automatic right. Schools have the discretion to grant up to 10 school
days’ absence within any school year in exceptional circumstances.
• It is advisable to give 7 days’ notice in order for your request to be processed by the school office
prior to the start of your absence.
• Taking unauthorised absence from school may result in being issued with a penalty.

Preparing Children for a Successful Future
Absence from school can be very disruptive to your child’s education. It not only
interrupts your child’s progress but also distracts other children in the class.
This is particularly so in the months of September (when children are settling down) and
in April and May (a crucial time for assessment and exams).
Schools do not have to agree to authorise absence for a holiday, although we have the
power to do so in exceptional circumstances. The school is not allowed to accept seasonal
prices as a valid reason for taking a child out of school during term time.
Taking unauthorised absence for children may result in a penalty being issued by City
of York Council
Government regulations state that at least 7 working days’ notice should be given when
requesting authorised absence for your child.
However, remember your child will be missing vital schoolwork – try to keep them in
school.

IMAGES AND VIDEOS PARENTAL CONSENT FORM
Clifton with Rawcliffe Primary School Eastholme Drive, Rawcliffe, York YO30 5TA T: 01904 555230 E: [email protected] W: www.cwr.york.sch.uk
This form explains the reasons why and how we may use images and videos of your child. Please read the form thoroughly and outline your agreement as appropriate.
Why do we need your consent?
When joining the school, we request the consent of parents to use images and videos of your child for a variety of different purposes. Without your consent, we will not use images and videos of your child. Similarly, if there are only certain conditions under which you would like images and videos of your child to be used, we will abide by the conditions you outline in this form.
Why do we use images and videos of your child?
We use images and videos of pupils as part of school displays to celebrate school life and pupils’ achievements; to promote the school on social media and on the school’s website; and for other publicity purposes in printed publications, such as newspapers. We are part of Pathfinder Multi Academy Trust. The Trust also uses images and videos of pupils on its website and in printed publications. As part of Pathfinder Multi Academy Trust, we have access to the Pathfinder Teaching School Alliance for staff training and professional development purposes. Pathfinder Teaching School Alliance also uses images and videos of pupils on its website and in printed publications. Where we use images of individual pupils, the name of the pupil will not be disclosed. Where an individual pupil is named in a written publication, a photograph of the pupil will not be used to accompany the text. If, for example, a pupil has won an award and their parent would like their name to be published alongside their image, separate consent will be obtained prior to this. We may take images or videos of individual pupils and groups of pupils to use on social media, the school website, in school prospectuses and other printed publications, such as a newsletter.
Who else uses images and videos of your child?
It is common that the school is visited by local media and press, who take images or videos of school events, such as sports days. Pupils will appear in these images and videos, and these may be published in local or national newspapers, or on approved websites. The following organisations may use images and videos of your children:
• York Press
• BBC News Where any organisations other than those listed intend to use images or videos of your child, additional consent will be sought before any image or video is used.
Preparing Children for a Successful Future
