Setting Parent Controls on a

MacBookProvided by the KIS Administration team.

Page 2: Parental Control Presentation

Go to the the Apple icon in the top left-hand corner of the

screen. A drop-down menu will appear with System Preferences

on it. Click on System Preferences.

System Preferences

Go to System Preferences. It is the Control Panel of a MacBook.

Find it by clicking on the Apple in the top Left corner of your desktop.

Parental Control Window

Once you click on Parental Control, it will bring you to this window.

Click on the lock in the bottom left corner of the screen.

Password Prompt

The computer will prompt you for the administrator name and password.

Enter them and click on OK.

Turn on Parental Control

Click on the user and it will highlight the name.

Then click on Enable Parental Controls.

You can also choose to manage from another computer.

Options Main Page

From here you can choose which options you want to change.

Time Limit Options

Time Limits allows you to set hours for computer use or to set a total number of hours the computer can be used in one day.

Content OptionsContent allows you to limit the websites that can be visited by your child.

Please be careful, because your child needs to access many websites for school.

Logs

Logs allows you to check what web sites, programs, or iChat your child has been accessing.

Locking Changes

Once you have set the controls as you wish, click on system and return to this window.

Then click on the lock in the left corner again.

Finishing

You will be brought back to this window and you are finished.
