FUNDRAISING FEETrinity Parents: Don’t forget about the $300 mandatory Fundraising Fee that is due for the 2015-16 school year. The fee may be paid at any time in the Trinity Advancement Office or through the mail until Monday, August 10. If the Fundraising Fee is not paid on or before August 10, your student will not be allowed to pick up his or her schedule and textbooks.

When the fee is paid, $400 worth of $5 Trinity Treasures Raffle Tickets will be issued to each family, meaning each Trinity family will have the opportunity to sell the tickets, keep the money collected, “pay itself back” and even profit $100 if all of the tickets are sold. Ticket stubs must be returned to the Trinity Advancement Office by Thursday, October 15 so they can be entered into the drawing that will take place Saturday, October 17 at the Trinity Treasures Dinner Auction.

Paying the Fundraising Fee fulfills all fundraising responsibilities for each Trinity family other than those associated with an organization or sports team with which your child may be involved. Checks for the Fundraising Fee may be made out to Trinity Catholic High School and mailed to 1720 Redman Road, St. Louis, MO 63138. Please indicate “Fundraising Fee” on the envelope.

Academics at Trinity Welcome to the 2015-2016 school year! As always happens the weeks of summer have flown by and the time is here to begin again. We continue to grow the presence of THE Catholic High School for North County. We are blessed by the partnership we have with our students, parents, guardians, faculty, staff, alumni, and benefactors. God will continue to lead us on this new leg of our journey, approaching our goal of providing quality Catholic education in the spirit of the Trinity.

Welcome to the newest Titans, the members of the Class of 2019. These students and their parents will begin their Trinity experience on Monday, August 17. An evening of orientation for students, parents, and guardians has been planned and will include dinner, informational parent meeting, community building activities for the students, and iPad distribution. The purpose of the evening is to calm nerves and answer questions. The freshmen and their parents will be receiving an invitation detailing the schedule for the evening.

Along with the Class of 2019 we welcome our new faculty members to the TCHS community. We are very blessed that these seven educators have accepted the invitation to join us in our mission. Please welcome Beth Clark (physical education), Sarah Coulom, (social studies), Carolyn Dixon (English), Emily Garrett (library), Laura Lebeda (art), Carmen Rose (music), and Natalie Vonarx (English). Kevin McKenna, class of 2011, has come on board as our advancement/recruitment director, a position formerly held by Dan Grumich who is our new athletic director.

We also want to congratulate some new parents among our staff. Our campus minister, Michelle Johnson and her husband welcomed their second son, Luke, at the end of May. Leah Chartrand and Rachele Moramarco became first time Moms in July. Welcome Joseph Henry Moramarco and Henry William Chartand. God bless them all!

Please remember that educating the Titans of Trinity Catholic High School is a cooperative and collaborative effort. Great results come from good and consistent support, encouragement, and communication. Thank you for allowing us to partner with you in providing the gift of Catholic education to your sons and daughters. Together we do, and will continue to expand minds and change lives.

God bless each of us as we embark on another new beginning. With God’s grace and a common effort it will be a great year and we will accomplish Trinity’s mission; to bring Jesus Christ to each of our students, modeling for them lives focused of faith, respect, service, tradition, and life long learning.

DID YOU KNOW ???????Student daily grades and report cards can be accessed through the Trinity Website. Go to trinitycatholichigh.org. Click on Family Access, then login. You will by using the same login and password from last year. Be sure to enter your email address when you login to Family Access.

Incoming freshmen and transfer students will receive their login and password on Book Day. Parents of these students will receive their login and password by mail later in August.

From theOffice of the PresidentDear Parents and Guardians,

Welcome to the 2015-2016 school year at Trinity Catholic High School! Preparations have been underway for the last several months to continue the tradition of EXPANDING MINDS and CHANGING LIVES here at Trinity. The preparations have ranged from hiring teachers, cleaning and improving our facilities, attending seminars to facilitate your students’ education and producing a new website which will be unveiled the week of August 2. THANKS to the gift of an anonymous donor.

In June I attended a Cultural Proficiency Institute with Ms. Lydon, our principal, Mrs. Lappe, our learning consultant, Mrs. Shipp, our dean and Mr. McKenna, our new advancement director. The purpose of the institute was to bring educators together to discuss critical issues of diversity, equity and opportunity. We as a Trinity faculty and staff will be embarking on this journey of making cultural proficiency a hallmark of our school. You will be hearing more about this throughout the coming year.

With this new year beginning I encourage you to get involved in your student’s education. Participate actively in our Trinity Parent Organization and Booster Club, join the auction committee, sign up to work in the outside concession stand. In so doing you will model service for your students, invest in their education and meet new people.

As always you are encouraged to spread the GOOD NEWS that Trinity is ALIVE IN CHRIST! We have much to be proud of because of you and your TITANS! As the summer comes to a fast close we ask that God bless all of us as we strive to do what is right and best for the students He has entrusted to our care. Know of my prayers for you and I ask that you pray for Trinity and me.

STUDENT HANDBOOK The handbook can be found on the Trinity website. Parents who would like a hard copy of the handbook are asked to request one from the school office. All students are responsible for the policies that are published in the handbook. To insure the necessary partnership between home and school, it is absolutely necessary that parents and guardians are aware and supportive of these policies.

Dress Code Also included with this newsletter (page 4) is a copy of the 2015-16 new Trinity Dress Code. Dress code will be strictly enforced with no exceptions.

DRESS CODE POLICIES 2015 - 2016

Educational research reveals that the learning environment and student achievement are positively impacted by student dress standards. The purpose of Trinity’s dress code is to support a favorable learning climate, foster self-esteem, create a sense of identity, and promote school pride. Student dress and behavior while entering and leaving campus impacts Trinity’s image in the community. It is each student’s responsibility to promote a positive image of Trinity at all times. All clothing must be modest, clean, of proper fit to each student’s body type, in good repair, and appropriate for a Catholic school. Tight and revealing clothing is not appropriate for Trinity students.

Students must be in dress code through out the entire school day including advisory, lunch, academic lab, senior study, and during detention. Advisors will check dress code compliance every morning. Students will be expected to correct any dress code problem immediately. If the problem is not corrected immediately or is repeated, a demerit will be issued. When the dress code issue cannot be corrected acceptably, the student will be sent to the office and report to the dean of discipline for consequences including being sent home.

Uniform items must be purchased from Fischer’s of Florissant or, if available, from the Trinity Book Store.

Shirts: A TCHS polo shirt (white, wine, or gray) must be worn at all times. Polo shirts may be left untucked. Undershirts may be white, gray, wine, or black. Undershirts must not be visible at the sleeves or the bottom hem of the polo shirt. Any graphic on the undershirt may not be visible through the polo shirt.

Skirts/Skorts: The TCHS plaid skirt, or skorts (gray or khaki) are purchased through Fischer’s. Skirts and skorts must be no more than

three (3) inches above the middle of the knee. (Hint: measure the length from the back of the knee when the standing up straight) Skirts and skorts may not be worn rolled or unbuttoned and must be worn at the waist. If shorts are worn under the skirt, they must not be visible.

If a student’s skirt does not fit properly the skirt will need to be replaced or the student must wear dress code pants.

Pants/Capris/Shorts: Pants must be a plain khaki “Docker” type style and fabric (cotton twill). Khaki jeans or pants with cargo pockets or metal

studs may not be worn. Pants and shorts must be worn at the waist. Boys’ shorts may be no longer than the bottom of the knee. Depending on fit a belt may be required. Girls’ shorts must be no more than three (3) inches above the middle of the knee.

Repeated violation of length or fit of skirts, shorts, skorts, or slacks will result in disciplinary action beyond a demerit.

Sweaters: Only wine or gray TCHS monogrammed sweaters from Fischer’s may be worn.

Sweatshirts/Jackets: Only Trinity sweatshirts or jackets may be worn during the school day. The approved sweatshirt/jacket colors are heather

gray, charcoal gray, wine, or white. A TCHS polo shirt must be worn under sweatshirts and jackets. Jackets must be worn open. No shirts can hang out under the sweatshirts or jackets. Students wearing “hoodies” sweatshirts may not wear the hoods on their heads in the school building.

Socks/Tights: If knee socks are worn they must be a matching solid color. Textured or patterned hose or tights may not be worn. Matching sport crew socks may be worn. Solid color tights or leggings may be worn. They must be gray, wine, white, or black.

Shoes: Only athletic shoes or dress shoes will be permitted. (This includes “Sperrys.”) All shoes must have a back. Shoes not allowed are boots, sandals, open toe or open back shoes, slippers, platform shoes or heels.

PE Uniform: All students must dress out for all physical education classes. Students in the Fundamentals classes are required to wear the complete PE uniform (shirt and shorts) purchased from the Trinity bookstore. Shirts and shorts worn for other PE classes must be appropriate for school and may not be made of spandex or other form fitting material.

Accessories: Coats, caps, hats, bandanas, do rags, scarves, and sunglasses are not to be worn. Body piercings are limited to ears and discrete nose studs. Backpacks may not be carried during the school day including advisory and lunch. Mohawk, faux hawk, or hairstyles with cut or shaved in designs are not permitted. If hair is colored or dyed a natural color must be used. Visible tattoos and body art are not acceptable and will be dealt with by the administration.

The dress code will be strictly enforced. Students who do not comply will have their Titan Cards signed. In some cases students may be sent home or required to call home for appropriate clothes. The administration has the final decision as to whether any particular clothing or

accessory is acceptable to be worn at Trinity.

UMSL BRIDGE PROGRAMCongratulations to the following Trinity students who completed the UMSL Bridge Program this summer: Juniors Ashley Johnson and Nikoli Lee and Sophomore Jesse Holmes. This program equips high school students with stimulating educational experiences, college planning and social and professional competencies critical for the successful matriculation to college.
