Dear Kinneret Families,
Welcome back! I hope the vacation has left you all renewed, refreshed, and ready for another exciting school term. The teachers and I were all happy to see your children back at school and to pick up where we left off.
Among our many other exciting endeavors, we have been hard at work on our new website, the de-velopment of which is an ongoing process. Many thanks to those who helped create Kinneret’s new website and special thanks to Gillian Steinberg for her hard work and contributions.
Heartfelt thanks to the many of you who con-tributed to our capital campaign. Our goal is 100% participation, so if you haven’t participated yet, please do! This year’s campaign runs until the end of Spring 2013. The letter and donation form are both available on our website, and every gift makes a big difference.
Best wishes for a healthy and happy 2013,

As in past years, Kinneret has been invited to participate in the Mu-seum of Jewish Heritage’s Interfaith Program. Along with the Solomon
Schechter Day School, Al Hasan Academy and the Islamic Leadership School, Kinneret students will have the opportunity to meet Muslim stu-dents, study the histories of each other’s cultures, explore artifacts, and learn tolerance. The students’ first session occurred on January 10, and
they are already excitedly anticipating their next meeting.
Eighth Grade Covers Earth Science
KDS Science fairs
Sixth Grade Covers Life Sciences
Seventh Grade Covers Physical Science
CHAVERIM PARTNERSHIP
Our fourth and fifth grades have once again been in-vited to partner with the Jewish Museum in an exciting learning opportunity. Students viewed “Crossing Bor-ders,” a traveling exhibition of manuscripts from Oxford’s Bodlein libraries. They examined medieval illuminated manuscripts and then participated in hands-on drama and storytelling while learning about the fable tradition. As a final project, they created their own illuminated posters inspired by folklore and movement.
WINTER PERFORMANCES
Many of our students had the opportunity to perform for families and friends around Chanukah time. The third grade’s impressive Chanukah Celebration, under the direction of Hebrew teacher Calanit Levy, impressed parents with the students’ hard work. The kindergarteners, led by Dorit Niven, shared Cha-nukah songs and retold the Mac-cabee’s story, followed by candle lighting and a special oily feast. And Ada Meltzer again prepared the second grade students beau-tifully for their meaningful and inspiring Chumash presentation. Kol hakavod to all the students

Honor the people who have made a difference in your lives by adding an engraved leaf to
Kinneret’s beautiful Tree of Life. This lasting tribute acknowl-
edges your loved ones at the same time that it supportes the Jewish future. Each leaf costs $275 and serves as a permanent
reminder of those who have come before us and the conti-nuity of our families through the educations of our children.
