Beloit, Wisconsin Known as the “Gateway to Wisconsin,” Beloit is a quaint town located in Rock County in the southern-most region of Wisconsin, about 76 miles from Madison and 96 miles from Chicago, Illinois. As you stroll through Beloit, much of its history is revealed and meticulously preserved for future generations to enjoy.

History

• From the Native American historical sites dating back to AD 700, to the notable Beloit College established in 1846 before Wisconsin became a state, living history runs through everyday life here in Beloit.

• Prominent Americans who have made a significant mark on our country have also touched Beloit, including one of our most celebrated presidents, Abraham Lincoln, as well as the world-renowned adventurer, Roy Chapman Andrews, the original “Indiana Jones.”
