OBJECTIVES
• To determine if doctors in India are becoming more
receptive to the idea of Electronic Medical Records and
conduct factor analysis.
• To determine if acceptability and opinion regarding EMRs is
related to Demographic factors.
Chi Square TEST Results
• Sex of the respondent or the fact that they have or
haven’t studied/ worked abroad does not influence
opinion regarding EMRs .
• Respondents who are below 35 years of age are
more receptive to the idea of EMRs .
DISSUADING FACTORS….
• Compliance concerns – obtained by clubbing staff
discontent, patient non compliance and privacy
concerns.
• Training concerns – obtained by clubbing
expensive and time consuming training
DISSUADING FACTORS ….
• Management concerns – obtained by clubbing low
ROI and expensive maintenance
• Implementation concerns- obtained by clubbing
difficult implementation and time consuming
implementation.
RESULTS & DISCUSSION
• The 12- 36- 96 Conundrum
• 45 out of the 50 respondents agree that EMR adoption
can contribute to the brand value of the hospital.
• Only two respondents stated that they would not
consider setting up an EMR system incase cost was
not a constraint.
CONCLUSION & RECOMMENDATIONS
• to introduce induction courses on IT in health care in
the MBBS curriculum itself .
• Awareness programs
• ensure that a flexible navigation scheme is employed
• adopting policies on the lines of HIPPA
