FRAME NARRATIVE Frame within Frame

In ON@TCC Chetan Bhagat tells a story about a story , in which Shyam is the narrator who tells a story to us. which is in epilogue. And the novel begins with Prologue. In train scene

chetan bhagat was travelling Kanpur to Delhi, he meets a beautiful and mysterious lady. She tells a story to Chetan Bhagat and puts a condition that he have to write a story on it. That was prologue.

LIFE OF PI has a same narrative structure

Yann Martel meets a person who tells a story of a person whose life story can be a story for Martel .that person was pi Martel meets pi and pi tells his on story . And Martel also used Prologue and Epilogue . And this novel was also begins with prologue.

Flash back technique: It has given a place in

to both the books and flash back is used to tell a story in ON@TCC there were 6characters and it unfolds each characters life simply and beautifully.

DUES EX MACHINE

Which gives an alternative. Mysterious lady and a call from a God are there in the book and to use this was not a mistake but chetan bhagat deliberately added this elements.

Alternative reading : When chetan bhagat asked to

that lady that people may not believe in the stoty where God is making a call.So the lady gives him alternative that replace the lines of God with Military uncle.

ARISTOTELIAN UNITIES:

While in LIFE OF PI : Pi tells a story to Japanese agents but after listing the story they were not ready to believe in It. So Pi gives an alternative another story where he replaced animals with human beings and when Martel asks what is the correct story Pi tells that which I told you. Now its your story you can write as you wish.

ARISTOTELIAN UNITIES

Aristotelian Unities: Though it is for plays but both books follows this.

Both has similar narrative structure but ON@TCC is not that much convincing while LIFE OF PI has philosophy of life.
