Paola United Methodist Church Monthly newsletter June 2018 page 1 “Making a difference for others because Jesus makes the difference for us.” A note from Pastor Andrea As most of you will have heard by now, I have been appointed to Clay Center UMC beginning July 1. It is with mixed emotions that I write this final newsletter article for you here at Paola UMC. I have truly enjoyed my time here, and have come to know and love you all. I am sad to be leaving you all behind, though I know you will be in great hands with Pastor Ken. My last Sunday here will be June 17, with one worship service at 9:30, followed by a going-away brunch for my family and I. I look forward to seeing all of you there. After that, we will be moving up to Clay Center to begin our new journeys and ministry there. The Staff Parish Relations Committee will ensure pastoral coverage during the gap after I leave, and when Ken begins on July 1. If you have any pastoral emergencies during that time, please contact the church office. As of June 18, our relationship as pastor and congregation will change dramatically. I will always be your friend, but I will no longer be your pastor. I will no longer be available to you for weddings, funerals, or other events. You will have a new pastor who will have the privilege of being involved in your lives in those ways. I ask that you do your absolute best to welcome him as your new pastoral leader, and help him in the process of beginning a new season of ministry together. I know that you all are doing wonderful ministry, and that you will continue to do wonderful things. We all know that change is difficult, but it also brings with it opportunities for growth and new possibilities. I know that God is at work in the midst of the changes here. I am praying for your continued successes with your new pastor in this transition. I would appreciate your prayers for my family and for the people of Clay Center UMC as well. With God’s help, everyone involved both here and there will be strengthened for the common work we engage in for God’s Kingdom. “Making a difference for others because Jesus
makes the difference for us.”
A note from Pastor Andrea
As most of you will have heard by now, I have been appointed to Clay Center UMC
beginning July 1. It is with mixed emotions that I write this final newsletter article for you
here at Paola UMC. I have truly enjoyed my time here, and have come to know and love
you all. I am sad to be leaving you all behind, though I know you will be in great hands
with Pastor Ken.
My last Sunday here will be June 17, with one worship service at 9:30, followed by a
going-away brunch for my family and I. I look forward to seeing all of you there. After
that, we will be moving up to Clay Center to begin our new journeys and ministry there.
The Staff Parish Relations Committee will ensure pastoral coverage during the gap after
I leave, and when Ken begins on July 1. If you have any pastoral emergencies during
that time, please contact the church office.
As of June 18, our relationship as pastor and congregation will change dramatically. I will always be your friend,
but I will no longer be your pastor. I will no longer be available to you for weddings, funerals, or other events. You
will have a new pastor who will have the privilege of being involved in your lives in those ways. I ask that you do
your absolute best to welcome him as your new pastoral leader, and help him in the process of beginning a new
season of ministry together.
I know that you all are doing wonderful ministry, and that you will continue to do wonderful things. We all know that
change is difficult, but it also brings with it opportunities for growth and new possibilities. I know that God is at work
in the midst of the changes here. I am praying for your continued successes with your new pastor in this transition.
I would appreciate your prayers for my family and for the people of Clay Center UMC as well. With God’s help,
everyone involved both here and there will be strengthened for the common work we engage in for God’s
Kingdom.
