MESSAGE FROM
FATHER TOM We are a couple of weeks into our Lenten journey. At School Mass
this week, I asked the students: How are you different or how have
you been changed since we began Lent? That is a good question for all of us to reflect on. Lent is
a time for us to change our ways and focus on what is important. Are we becoming better people,
better Christians, more loving, more forgiving, more prayerful, less critical, and less angry because of
Lent? There are still several weeks to go, so if we haven’t seen the change or progress we would
like, there is no time like today to make the appropriate adjustments. Blessings on your journey!
Pope Francis has asked all parishes around the world to participate in an initiative during this Jubilee
Year of Mercy called, 24 Hours for the Lord. This will take place on March 4 - 5. Beginning at 9:00
a.m. on Friday, March 4, we will have Eucharistic Adoration that continues until 9:00 a.m. on Satur-
day, March 5. There will also be several times when the Sacrament of Reconciliation is offered.
Many of our students will participate in Adoration during the day on Friday. I also encourage you to
participate as a family. You can find out more information about this worldwide event in our parish
bulletin or on our parish website.
In connection with the Year of Mercy and as a special focus during Lent, all Catholics are encouraged
to share in the beauty of the Sacrament of Reconciliation. If it has been awhile since you celebrated
this sacrament of God’s forgiveness and mercy, now is an opportune time. As mentioned above, we
will be offering several hours for Reconciliation during the March 4 - 5 event. We will also have our
Lenten Reconciliation service on Sunday, March 13, at 7:00 p.m. There will be several priests here
for individual Confession. In addition, we offer weekly Reconciliation from 3:30 - 4:15 p.m. on Satur-
days, and 4:15 - 4:45 p.m. on Sundays. Sharing in the Sacrament of Reconciliation is a great way to
prepare our hearts for the celebration of Christ’s Resurrection at Easter.
Many Blessings!
Fr. Tom Holder
