dopo la scoperta che le stringhe chiuse descrivono le interazioni gravitazionali (Scherck, Schwarz, Gliozzi, Olive...) e la parallela scoperta di una teoria supersimmetrica della gravità: la supergravità (Ferrara, Freedman, Van Nieuwenhuizen)
L’ETA’ MODERNA dal 1984 al 1994
Inizia con la Prima Rivoluzione della Stringa (1984) seguita alla scoperta della cancellazione delle “Anomalie” (Green & Schwarz) . Questa scoperta riduce il numero di teorie di stringa consistenti a cinque
