Panineeya Mahavidyalaya Institute of Dental Sciences & Research Centre is committed to the service of one and all to achieve the best oral health care possible. The institute is in constant pursuit of dental health care for the public, following the highest ethical standards. The college is located in the heart of Hyderabad in a sprawling 5.3 acres. The campus is self contained with hostel facility, sports complex, cafeteria and other amenities. It is well connected by city bus services from every nook & corner of twin cities, with an approximate distance of 10 & 30 Kms from Railway station, Shamsabad Air Port respectively. Students have soothing ambience and spacious covered areas to concentrate on their studies and works. The institute is fully equipped with sophisticated & latest equipment and over 250 dental chairs for expert dental treatment. The college has a daily patient input of over 300 patients, which is steadily increasing.

The campus is self contained with Dental Hospital, library, seminar halls, a separate Examination hall, well equipped laboratories, class rooms with audio –visual equipments, personality development lab and etc. in a built up area of 1,35,000 sft and separate hostels for boys and girls, sports room, play ground, open auditorium, museum, cafeteria, staff quarters and other amenities which serve as good learning tools and resource centres.

Course and Admissions Details:

• Bachelor of Dental Surgery – BDS: Duration of course - 5 years.

• Candidates for admission to BDS course must have passed Intermediate Public Examinations i.e. 10 + 2 with subjects of Physics, Chemistry, Biology, Zoology and English individually and must have obtained a minimum of 50% marks (Science subjects) and should have qualified EAMCET Entrance and selection on merit basis through Counseling.

• "Candidates seeking admission under NRI / Foreigner Quota are eligible for direct admission and there is no need to take any Entrance Examination with minimum of 50% of marks of Intermediate i.e. 10+2 (with science subjects).

• Master of Dental Surgery – MDS: Duration of course - 3 years

• Candidates for admission to MDS course must have a BDS degree from a college and university recognized by the Dental Council of India, New Delhi or an equivalent qualification recognized by Dr. NTRU of Health Sciences, Vijayawada, A.P., and should have scored a minimum of 50% marks and should have qualified the competitive Entrance examination.

Academic Excellence:

Attendance requirement is as follows:• Each candidate should put up 75% of attendance in theory classes and 75% in

Practical / Clinical, in each subject for each academic year. The candidate who satisfies all the requirements of attendance, progress, and conduct as stipulated by the university is eligible to appear for the University examination.

Internal Assessment:

• Minimum two internals out of three internals should be attended (both in theory and practical / clinical), for the academic year and the average of the three internals will be sent to the university. The internal assessment is not only limited to the written tests. It may also relate to other aspects such as maintenance of records, participation in seminars and group discussions, clinical case studies, proficiency in carrying out practical or clinical skills. These things will be evaluated objectively and recorded accordingly.

•Eligibility for University Exams:The above two i..e attendance and internals are required to appear for the university examinations.

Each question paper is of 3 hours duration, carrying maximum marks of 70. There will be three types of questions and the distribution of marks for these questions is given below.

Internet Facility College is having 2 Mbps Internet connection, locally networked and connected through wi-fi to the central server. The facility is available for students for their project work and preparing seminar presentations.

• The Department of Oral Medicine, Diagnosis & Radiology is located on the ground floor at the entrance. It deals with O.P Counter and Reception. There is a separate section for Radiology for Dento-maxillofacial imaging and a room for sterilization as well. There are separate rooms for HOD and other staff.

• The students are prepared to deal with dental and orofacial problems and also helps in careers, teaching and research activities. The required coursework and rotations are designed to assure student’s exposure and competency in various aspects of the specialty in accordance with DCI regulations.

• The department has onsite facilities for performing both minor and major surgical procedures under Local and General Anesthesia. Department of Conservative Dentistry & Endodontics:

• Conservative Dentistry is deals with prevention and treatment ofdiseases and injuries of hard tissues. Endodontics deals with treatment of diseases of pulp of tooth and associated periapicallesions.

• The department of Conservative Dentistry and Endodontics gives training to 100 undergraduates in the pre-clinical and clinical programs. Students are trained for the first 2 years on phantom heads while during the next 3 years they have advantage of working on patients under expert and personal supervision of qualified professors.

•There is also a lab for casting facilities for the students. Special care is given to proper cleaning and sterilization of instruments. • The department of public health dentistry is dedicated to deliver oral health services at the doorstep of the rural and the underprivileged sections of the community. It aims to develop proficiency in community diagnosis, assessment of oral health needs, developing and planning strategies to meet oral health demands of the needy.

• Treatment of the oral disease and also its prevention and promotion of oral health for improvement of the quality of the life of individuals and communities is emphasized.

Mobile Dental Clinic:• The department has a well equipped mobile dental van with two dental chairs

and all attachments including aerator, micrometer ultrasonic scaler, 3 way syringe, light cure unit with gun and X-Ray viewer. A public address system, TV, DVD player and health education models are used to provide health education and motivation.

Health Education Museum:• Displays posters and models to impart dental health awareness and education

to the general public.

Outreach Dental Health Programmes: • The department has three satellite centers spread in and around city of

Hyderabad. The department also participates in school dental health programmes and camps conducted by NGOs at various places in and around Hyderabad.
