Deployment/Migration Scenarios for 5G/5G+
• In 2020, 5G will be launched initially from areas, where higher performance is required, e.g., dense urban area – Both new RAT (Phase I) and enhanced LTE (eLTE) RAT are introduced to realize tight
interworking between lower and higher frequency bands
Before 2020
2020
202x
• In beyond 2020, deployment areas for 5G are gradually expanded while introducing additional technologies and frequency bands (= 5G+) – LTE (or LTE-Advanced) cell can be continuously used as eLTE cell for a long-time
•Stand-alone new RAT might be deployed in the future

Access Access
1. Access/Backhaul/Side link integration – Coverage extension to 1km and beyond
– New numerology/waveform for backhaul & coverage
2. New frequency bands up to 100GHz and super massive MIMO with more than 10,000 antenna elements
3. Advanced duplex & interference cancellation
– Directional/Spatial division duplex (DDD/SDD)
– Advanced interference cancellation for dynamic TDD
4. Advanced service integration – Multiplexing (e.g., TDM/FDM/SDM (MU-MIMO)) of multiple numerologies
for eMBB/URLLC/mMTC services
