Phonics in P1 An explanation of how phonics is taughtin P1 and how you can support yourchild at home. 18. Phase 1Phase One of Letters and Sounds concentrates on developingchildren's speaking and listening skills and lays the foundations for thephonic work which starts in Phase 2. Phase 2In Phase 2, letters and their phonemes are introduced one at a time.
