Tank Membrane Liner

• Membrane liners are typically pre-fabricated as a one-piece bag to fit inside a tank

• No sealants required

• Liners are hung from the top angle of tank, in a similar fashion to a set of curtains

• Maximum temperature of stored water should not exceed 60 °C

• Butyl rubber: typically potable water

EPDM: typically fire fighting water

PVC: suitable for both potable and fire fighting water, or applications where higher chlorine tolerance is required (up to 20ppm)

External Surface Finish to Tank Shell

It is necessary to apply anti-corrosion coating / paint after welding, which typically requires scaffolding works.

The coating / paint needs to be re-applied regularly.

No coating is required and the tank shell is protected from corrosion by the nature of the material used.

Internal SurfaceFinish to Tank Shell

It is necessary to apply a non-toxic and anti-corrosion coating, and there is usually a “curing” period before the tank can be used.

There are safety concerns due to operation in confined spaces, and the tank structure is at risk of internal corrosion due to the constant contact with water.

When the internal coating peels / chip off, corrosion of the underlying steel may lead to structural failure.

A membrane liner is used with a tough, flexible and durable finish that is non-toxic, and will not degrade in water.

There is no need for scaffolding for the installation of the liner.

As the tank structure is not in constant contact with water, there is no risk of corrosion and the tank can be used for a very long time.

• Glass powder fused to steel at high temperatures, forming a protective vitreous enamel coating

• Glass lining coated on both sides, combining corrosion resistance of glass with high tensile strength of steel

• Mastic sealants used for water tightness and anti-corrosion of bolts
