Binghamton University. Contract ($423,453, year 1 amount; $462,618, year 2) with the New York State Education Department to evaluate the $17 million (Race to the Top) Virtual Advanced Placement Program (Principal Investigator with C. Beth Burch and Nicole Fenty)

State University of New York. Alfred Sloan Foundation funded a 2 year (2010-2012) continuation grant at $350,000 to provide support for the launching of additional SUNY

Professional Science Masters programs, as well as assistance with marketing, recruiting, job placement, and developing other collaborative partnerships. (David King, Susan Weber, Pam Sandoval, and Robert Kraushaar)

New York Unified Court System and State University of New York. I worked with the members of the Unified Court System to develop the SUNY portion of their Drug Court Discretionary Grant. They were funded at $199,780 for two years (2010-2012). (Valerie Raine, Ann Badar, Pamela Sandoval, and Ed Engelbride)

New York State P-16 Data Management System. John Porter (SUNY IR) and I

worked with New York State Education Department on two successful USDOE Institute for Education Sciences grant applications. Grant 1 was funded at $6.7 million in 2009. Grant 2 was funded at $19.7 million in 2010.

New York State Education Department/Gates Foundation – Smart Scholars Early

College High Schools. Ten SUNY campuses (8 of 11 partnerships) were funded as well as SUNY/EdWorks of Ohio as the Gates Intermediary beginning in 2010. The Intermediary supports the development and implementation of the partnerships. Total funding for the project is over $4 million. (Nancy Willie-Schiff, Pam Sandoval, and Andrea Mulkey)

New York State Teacher Pilot Quality Research Center. Project funded to develop a state-wide information management system that links university data with NYSED certification and teacher employment data. Partnership received $50,000 from Carnegie and $50,000 match from the New York State Education Department (PI Hamilton Lankford. Nancy Willie-Schiff, Sue Weber and Pam Sandoval).

Career Ladder Incentive Program (U-CLIP). Principal Investigator. Grant amount

$1,029,026 over three years beginning in fall 1999. Instigated, provided needs assessment, wrote the grant narrative, and provided the evaluation plan for the USDOE Title II Higher Education Act, Teacher Recruitment Grant (with C. Reed, UTEP Director).

K-12 Transition Partnership. Principal Investigator. Grant amount $154,781 over

one year. Participated in conceptual development and outline of grant (with S. Wigle, G. Schultz, & C. Wiles). Wrote drafts and final copy. The grant was funded for one year beginning fall 2001.

A Certainty of Opportunity. Principal Investigator for a School/university/ community collaborative between IUN, The Gary Community School Corporation (GCSC), and The Gary Accord. Wrote (with W. Burt, GCSC) the grant funded by the

Knight Foundation for $250,000 for a "Certainty of Opportunity" for children and youth in the GCSC. This was a three-year grant (1995-96 to 1997-98).

ISTEP-UP. Helped staff at Locke Elementary School, Gary Community School

Corporation, to conceptualize and write a $47,000 proposal to the Indiana Department of Education, beginning September 1996.

UTEP Phase III: The Next Generation. Participated in the development of a grant to

the Lilly Endowment. This grant added $650,000 to the Urban Teacher Education Program in 1993-94

Indiana University International Travel Funds. Received $600 travel grant to present on UTEP in Brazil, 1993.

Research on College Mothers, Aged 17-25. Principle Investigator. Received a $1,500

Indiana University Grant In-Aid of Research to study college mothers, aged 17-25 (1994). This is a qualitative (ethnographic interviews) follow-up to my quantitative dissertation. Collected 30 interviews.

Teaching Grant. Network for Excellence in Teaching, sponsored by the IUPUI Office of

Faculty and Senior Staff Development. $3,000 in summer of 1998 to develop the Interactive Video Course, Schooling of Women and Girls.

Indiana University Faculty Leadership Institute. Preliminary work on the IUN Shared

Vision. $900 in summer of 1999.

City of Wauwatosa, WI. Funded Proposal. Needs assessment survey of the elderly. Co-researcher with Dale Jaffe, Department of Sociology, UW-Milwaukee.

Other Administrative Assignments

New York Board of Regents Regional Meetings. Co-chaired with Marie Wiles (BOCES District Superintendents) a planning team that included SUNY Deans of Education, NYSED, and BOCES Superintendents to initiate regional teams (2005-2008).

SUNY Critic Teacher Task Force and Follow Up. Co-chaired with Associate Provost J. Clarke (2006-07). The Task Force included Deans of Education and Education Field Experience Directors. Its charge was to investigate the need to increase stipends for cooperating teachers. The group prepared surveys for three constituent groups: (1) Field Experience Directors in SUNY; (2) Field Experience Directors from a sample of peer institutions in other states; and (3) New York District principals and teachers. A report with results and recommendations was completed and submitted to the SUNY Provost in 006.

SUNY Liaison to Deans and Directors of Education. Visited campuses with teacher education programs. Attended Deans and Directors of Education meetings held twice a year. Worked with deans on issues of accreditation and assessment of teacher education programs. Provided for collaboration on grant proposals and other joint efforts.

IBM Transition to Teaching Project. Worked with IBM, NYSED, and two SUNY campuses (University at Albany and SUNY Empire State) to provide programs for engineers and other technical professionals to become teachers in high need scientific and technical areas (2006-2008).

SUNY Teacher Education Transfer Template. Worked with Teacher Education programs and community colleges to ensure articulation and adequate transfer of course so that community college students will have a seamless transfer experience.

SUNY Urban Teacher Education Center (SUTEC). Served on the SUTEC Board. SUTEC provides student teaching experiences for teacher education candidates from all SUNY Teacher Education Programs across New York State.
