IMPORTANT• Colostrum must be fed for the first four days.
• Ensure all equipment used in preparation and feeding is hygienically cleaned before use.
• Feeding recommendations are to be used as a guide only. Actual volumes fed depend upon the weight and breed of the lamb and kid.
• Changes to the volume of feed should be made gradually and do not overfeed.
MANAGEMENT TIPS• Ensure that lambs & kids are housed in a clean dry environment, that provides adequate
shelter free from draughts.
• Ensure each animal has adequate space and house animals of similar size and weight in groups of 6-8.
• Attend to and isolate any sick animals promptly.
• Lamb or Kids navel should be checked and sprayed with iodine or similar to prevent navel ill.
• Bloat can occasionally occur due to gorging.
• Smaller more frequent feeds can help to prevent abomasal bloat.
