If tuition and fees are not paid in full by May 26, the registration deposit will be absorbed and the stu- dent’s enrollment in the Academy will be voided. From June 5-16 2017 the UAF Art Department will host an intensive visual arts program for students from grades 6–12. Our faculty of professionalvisual artists will be teaching classes in:Animation, Cartooning, Ceramics, Computer Art, Fashion Design, Photography, Drawing and Design, Metalsmithing, Painting, Print-making and Sculpture & 3D Design.
Students participate as full-time or part-time students. Full-time students take four classes per day. Half-time students take two classes per day. Each class meets for 95 minutes. Classes meet Monday-Friday from 8:30AM until 4:30PM for two weeks. Students have an independent lunch break each day from 12 noon to 1:00PM.
VAA is supported in part by UAF Chancellor’s Of-fice, UAF Summer Sessions, UAF’s College of Liberal Arts and the UAF Art Department.
VAA is June 5-16, 2017Animation-An exciting course in experimental anima-tion, stop-motion and 2D animation.
Cartooning-Sequential drawing and character design for animation and visual story-telling.
Ceramics-Students create hand built clay artworks and pottery.
Computer Art- A course in digital pixel painting and computer design using Adobe Photoshop.
Fashion Design- Students design and create fashion apparel.
Photography-An exciting class that teaches the foun-dations of photography using digital SLR cameras.
Drawing and Design-Fundamental techniques of drawing and design using traditional and new materials.
Metalsmithing-Using metalsmithing techniques, students create objects and jewelry in copper, brass and silver.
Painting-Students learn traditional and contemporary painting techniques while working on composition stud-ies and mixed media projects.
Printmaking-Students create relief, intaglio and col-lagraph prints using traditional printing presses.
Sculpture and 3D Design-Students create sculp-tural projects using found objects, clay, plaster, metal, wire and wood.
