Vision

Students.in Islamic Studies are expected to develop both an all-inclusive knowledge of Islamic intellectual history and religious thought, as well as mastery of a particular field and the indispensable tools for critical erudition on Islam.

We offer an open intellectual environment which produces a structure of study that will enable future generations of scholars to become specialists and experts in Islamic thoughts, culture and ideology. These graduates will be well-equipped to tackle the controversial issues and challenges facing Muslim communities across the globe.

Mission

The insidious influence of secular materialism and its value system dangerously challenges religious minded individuals and communities. In such a situation it is necessary to teach and promote the fundamental principles of Islamic Faith and virtuous conduct. The Islamic studies curriculum focuses on personality and character development with considerable attention to the real needs and concerns of students. Moreover, it aims at developing the critical thinking and problem-solving skills needed to function successfully as Muslims in society.

We make our best effort to foster the prerequisite skills needed to produce competent Muslims who are capable of presenting and defending the genuine and pristine teachings of Islam. Our mission is to positively affect and transform the world and prepare young men and women who are capable of carrying out this mission —morally, intellectually and emotionally.

FIRST SEMESTER

Course Title: Quran wa Uloom-ul-Quran-I

Credit Hours: 3

Course Code: ISRA-111

Marks: 100

Objective:

Quran is a fountain source of all knowledge; therefore pivotal significance has been attached to

the study of Quran in the Academic program. Quran is a character-building, revolutionary and

thought provoking book of guidance. It contains the secrets of the universe. The omniscient has

described the fundamental principles for the rise and fall of nations in Quran. Complete

translation of Quran, grammatical analysis of its verses, explanation of difficult words,

interpretation of complicated passages and rules of correct pronunciation have been

incorporated in the syllabus.

Instead of encouraging students to have frequent resort to Commentaries on Quran, focus has

been concentrated on improving their abilities to understand and comprehend Quran by their

own endeavors without turning to commentaries again and again.

The students will be encouraged to study classical Tafaseer (exegises/commentaries) and

discouraged to let their sectarian prejudices negatively color their understanding of Quran.

Language and Literature.

It is necessary for a competent religious leader to have command over contemporary as well as religious knowledge. In order to achieve this purpose, it is indispensable to learn Arabic and English, therefore, an appropriate place has been given to these languages in the syllabus. The original sources of Islam such as Quran, Hadith, Fiqah etc are in Arabic language and a student of Islamic Studies cannot have access to them without having a brilliant command over Arabic. in order to fulfill this need of the students, the syllabus focuses on the grammar and literature of Arabic language. The old and traditional methods of language will be replaced by new and fast ways of language learning. Modern courses and audio-visual aids will be used for teaching Arabic language.

Similarly, it is very important for the students of Islamic Studies to master English because thousands of books are written in English. In order to enable the students to have access to these sources of knowledge, English language courses have been incorporated in five semesters.
