Our HistoryThe V Foundation for Cancer Research was founded in 1993 by ESPN and
the late Jim Valvano, legendary North Carolina State basketball coach and
ESPN commentator. Jimmy V shared his dream of finding a cure for cancer
in a momentous and emotional speech at the 1993 ESPY Awards when he
introduced The V Foundation for Cancer Research with the emphatic motto,
“Don’t give up...DON’T EVER GIVE UP!”®
The V Foundation for Cancer Research seeks to make a difference by
generating broad-based support for cancer research by creating an urgent
awareness among all Americans of the importance of the war against cancer.
To date, The V Foundation has awarded over $130 million to fund cancer
research grants nationwide.
100% of direct cash donations are awarded to cancer research and related
programs. Due to generous donors, The V Foundation has an endowment
that covers administrative expenxes. The V Foundation is proud to rank as one
of Charity Navigator’s leading fund- raising organizations nationally. These are
tremendous accomplishments and have changed lives by contributing to the
significant strides in cancer prevention, detection and treatment. We remain
both grateful and inspired by those who choose to join our fight. We look
forward to working together in our shared stance against cancer!

Dear Friends,
The V Foundation and V Wine Celebration Boards of Directors invite you to join us for the 17th Annual V Foundation Wine Celebration. It’s a fabulous weekend with abundant offerings of great wines, superb food, and the gathering together of old and new friends in the fight against cancer. We have created a fabulous series of events to celebrate 17 years of achievements.
Thursday evening will feature exclusive winery dinners at B Cellars, Joseph Phelps Vineyards, Raymond Vineyards, and Silver Oak Cellars. The V Foundation Humanitarians & Founders will be feted at Casa Piena, hosted by Gail & Carmen Policy. After a wonderful dinner, guests will have the opportunity to dance the night away at the incredible Club Red at Raymond Vineyards.
Friday, The V Foundation Presidents & Vintner Grant Honorees will enjoy a gourmet luncheon paired with award- winning wines at HALL Winery. In the afternoon, guests have the opportunity to experience a Classic Bordeaux Blending Workshop. Friday night, we will gather together for the “Let’s Get It Started” Party showcasing the “All-Stars of Research,” which kicks off the 2015 V Wine Celebration weekend. Project M will thrill the crowd with old school R & B, Funk and Rock & Roll.
On Saturday morning, we feature the Cancer Research Symposium, where the nation’s leading physicians and research scientists present the latest advances in cancer research. Later that afternoon, savor boutique and legendary wines with a fusion of edibles at the Innovators & Icons Marketplace.
Saturday evening, Coach K and his wife, Mickie, will host the World-Class Auction and lavish dinner. Back by popular demand, Huey Lewis & The News will perform their contagious brand of Grammy Award-winning music. The evening caps with the popular After Party at the Villagio Inn & Spa.

The Scientific Advisory Committee is comprised of some of the nation’s leading physicians and research scientists from prominent universities and cancer centers.The doctors discuss current advances and discoveries into clinical applications, new diagnostics and alternative treatments for cancer.
By focusing on brilliant young investigators, the Scientific Advisory Committee works toward accomplishing the goal of the foundation: eradicating cancer. Includes Q & A session.

Room RatesAll rooms must be reserved through the V Wine Celebration office; the hotel will not book your hotel room directly.
Your hotel stay must be secured with a credit card.
If your reservation is cancelled fewer than 30 days prior to the event, your credit card will be charged for the full value of your hotel reservation. A deposit equal to 100% of the first night’s room rate and taxes will be charged to your credit card on July 1, 2015. The balance of your room rate and taxes, porterage, housekeeping, and incidentals will be due upon checkout.

The 17th Annual V Foundation Wine Celebration has reserved all rooms at the Villagio Inn & Spa and its sister property, the Vintage Inn, exclusively for our weekend guests. As headquarters for the weekend, rooms at the Villagio Inn & Spa will be filled first, with priority to guests participating in both days’ events.
Reservations are accepted on a first-come, first-served basis. Your reservation is not confirmed until paid in full.
