1 PACIFIC GROVE WEEKLY SUMMARY June 10, 2016 CITY CLERK The Monterey Peninsula Water Management District will be conducting a public hearing on Monday June 20, 2016. The hearing is to consider Application #WDS-20160602CAW to Amend California American Water Company Water Distribution System to Add Aquifer Storage and Recovery Facilities. Approval of the application would enable California American Water Company (CAW) to incorporate facilities associated with Aquifer Storage and Recovery (ASR), including previously approved Phase 1 and Phase 2 wells, in addition to the proposed Hilby Avenue Pump Station (APN 012-324-032) and the proposed Monterey Pipeline (see attached figure). COMMUNITY DEVELOPMENT Local Coastal Program Update. On June 16, the Planning Commission is scheduled to discuss the Implementation Plan dated June 1, 2016, and make a recommendation to Council. A Special Planning Commission meeting, at another date yet to be determined in June, may also be considered if necessary. Council will continue the item from June 15 to a Special Meeting on June 29. Implementation Plan considerations for Planning Commission include: Document organization; Coastal Development Permit procedures; Commercial-Visitor Zoning District Height Limits; American Tin Cannery Zoning Floor Area Ratio; Density Standards for Visitor-Serving Parcels. FINANCE The City's independent auditors, Chavan & Associates, LLC, were in town this week performing the annual interim audit (the preliminary audit that leads up to the final audit following the fiscal year end). This is the second audit that Chavan & Associates is undertaking for the City having been awarded a three-year agreement in April 2015 to conduct the annual audit and prepare the Comprehensive Annual Financial Report. Sheldon Chavan and his team are highly valued partners in ensuring accuracy, accountability, and transparency of the City's financial resources. FIRE DEPARTMENT Fire Department Recognition. On June 7, 2016, the City of Carmel recognized members of the Monterey Fire Department for their involvement in helping save a swimmers life on Carmel beach on March 26, 2016.
