PAC-12 MOMENTUMu The past two seasons of Pac-12 men’s basketball have seen the Conference reestablish itself as one of the premier leagues in the NCAA. Entering 2017-18, the Conference of Champions is primed to have the last team standing in San Antonio:
u 2017-18:- For just the second time in the past decade, the Pac-12 began the season with two top 10 teams in the AP preseason poll (also 2016-17). - For USC, its preseason AP top 10 ranking was its first since the 1974-75 campaign.
u 2016-17:- Oregon reached the NCAA Final Four, the first Pac-12 school to advance to national semifinals since 2008.- Pac-12 posted a 10-4 record in NCAA Tournament play, its most tourney wins since 2007 and the third-most of any league (ACC & SEC - 11).- A Pac-12 program advanced to the Elite Eight for the fourth straight year, the only league to accomplish that feat.- A national-best three teams (Arizona, Oregon, UCLA) finished in the top 10 of the Associated Press and ESPN/USA Today Coaches polls.- Four Associated Press All-Americans, the most of any conference in the country and tied for most in league history (1975).- League record and national-best 14 selections in the NBA Draft, including Nos. 1 & 2 overall picks in Markelle Fultz and Lonzo Ball. Fultz was the league’s first No. 1 pick since Bill Walton in 1974.
u 2015-16:- A league-record seven teams earned NCAA Tournament bids.- Four teams ranked in the final Associated Press Top 25 poll, the most for the league since 2007.- Nine teams finished season in top 100 of NCAA RPI, the most in Conference history.
DUSAN RISTIC, ARIZONASenior, 7-0, C, Novi Sad, Serbia.
u Kareem Abdul-Jabbar Center of the Year candidate Dusan Ristic of ARIZONA earns the Pac-12 Player of the Week award for Jan. 22-29. Ristic is the third Wildcat to collect the Conference weekly honor and the team’s fourth nod this season (Allonzo Trier: Nov. 13, Deandre Ayton: Dec. 4, Jan. 1).
u Ristic led Arizona to a pair of wins last weekend, improving to 18-4 overall and 8-1 in league play and climbing to No. 9 in the Associated Press Top 25 and No. 14 in the NCAA RPI.
u The Novi Sad, Serbia native just narrowly missed averaging a double-double last week with 19.0 points, 7.5 rebounds and 1.5 blocks per game while shooting 16-of-19 (.842) for his highest field goal percentage in league play.
u Ristic opened the weekend with 15 points and eight rebounds as Arizona defeated Colorado, 80-71, on Thurs-day. The 7-0 senior registered his third game of 20-or-more points this season with a career-high 23 points in Saturday’s 74-73 win over Utah. Ristic converted all three of his three-point attempts, including a critical triple with less than two minutes remaining.
u He became the 52nd member of Arizona’s 1,000-point club and the 28th player in program history to score at least 1,000 points (1,003) and grab 500 career rebounds (546). Ristic recorded his 106th career win on Saturday, which ranks fourth in UA history. He is now only five wins away from becoming the winningest player in Arizona history, a mark currently held by Matt Muehlebach (1988-91) and Kaleb Tarczewski (2013-16) at 110 wins.

u Pac-12 members were well represented by alumni and former players during the 2017 NBA Playoffs with 32 players (2nd only to ACC’s 41) on 13 playoff teams. Every Pac-12 program was rep-resented in the NBA Playoffs, the only league to accomplish that feat.
u For the second straight year, the Pac-12 also led the way in the NBA Finals between the Cleve-land Cavaliers and champion Golden State War-riors.
u Pac-12 men’s basketball enjoyed a historic 2017 NBA Draft as a league-record 14 former standouts were selected, including six in the first round highlighted by the Nos. 1 and 2 overall se-lections and three lottery picks.
u Over the last five NBA Drafts (2013-17), the Pac-12 has produced 42 picks overall and 23 first round selections, totals that are second only to the ACC (52, 30).
u WASHINGTON’s Markelle Fultz was the No. 1 overall selection by the 76ers, joining UCLA’s Bill Walton in 1974 and Lew Alcindor (Kareem Abdul-Jabbar) in 1969 as top picks from Conference members.
u WASHINGTON became the first school and the Pac-12 became the first conference to have both No. 1 NBA and WNBA Draft picks as UW’s Kelsey Plum was the first choice of the San Antonio Stars in April’s WNBA Draft.
u UCLA’s Lonzo Ball was chosen No. 2 by the Los Angeles Lakers, marking the first time in league history and just the fourth time in the NBA Draft’s 71-year history that the top two picks came from the same conference.
A total of 10 former Pac-12 standouts were chosen to compete during 2018 NBA All-Star Weekend in Los Angeles, five each in the All-Star Game and Rising Stars Game.
