Picasso was born in October 25, 1881 in the town of Malaga, Spain.

His father was a professor of drawing.

It was at an early age that Picasso's father noticed his ability at drawing and encouraged it. At age ten he joined the local art academy in Barcelona.

Picasso’s early years

Academy of San Fernando. Being he did not care for the teaching there he spent most of his time wandering the streets looking for inspiration for his art. He became greatly influenced by the museum of paintings, where he discovered the Spanish artisans of old.

Rose Period 1905-06

Beginning of Cubism1906-09

Analytical Cubism 1910-12

It was just before World War One when Picasso an Braque stopped working together. After the war Picasso used the emotional unrest from the atrocities of the war to slip back towards the classical form of art and at the same time pushing the boundaries of cubism.
