Early Life

● He was born on October 25, 1881 in Malaga, Spain.

● His full name is Pablo Diego Jose Francisco de Paula Juan Nepomuceno Maria de los Remedios Cipriano de la Santisima Trinidad Martyr Patricio Clito Ruiz y Picasso.

● His father was Don Jose Ruiz Blasco, a painter and an art teacher.

● His first words were “piz,piz” or “lapiz” the Spanish word for pencil.

● Started drawing and painting when he was 13 years old.

● He lost interest in doing schoolwork and instead doodled in his notebook.

● When he was 14, he moved with his family to Barcelona where he applied to the School of Fine Arts.

Early Life● Because he was so good, he was

accepted to the school even if most students are older than him.

● He started to skip classes so he can roam around the streets and draw what he sees.

● When he was 16 he moved to Madrid to attend the Royal Academy of San Fernando.

● In 1899, he moved back to Barcelona and started painting and drawing again.
