FlierDescription: This is a Black & White flier to promote a graduate leadership conference held by Vouant Communications.Process: First, I designed four sketches of design ideas that I could possibly use for the flier. Then I picked the one that I thought was the most appropriate and effective for my message and audience. Then I used the Adobe InDesign program to create the design for the flier. I used a left alignment of the title, text and images to give the design a nice and clean look. I put a black box around the word “Leadership” in the title, enlarged the text, and colored it white to emphasize the leadership aspect of the conference. I also used plenty of white space to give the design good balance.Message: My message is to persuade graduates who want to have a competitive edge on leadership in their future occupation to come to this seminar.Audience: My audience is recent graduates that are looking to enter into the business field soon, or to increase their advantage in their current occupation.Top Thing Learned: I learned the importance of alignment.Title Font Name & Category: Eurostille - San SerifCopy Font Name & Category: Garamond - Old StyleLinks to images used in this project: JuliePeterson-Leadership-conference-business-rexburg-Idaho_7576-as-Smart-Object-11.jpg and VouantLogo2.png

Description: This is an ad that I designed for a Fall Festival to raise money for families of fallen war heroes. The event and organization are made-up.Process: For this design I scanned a a nice photo of the outdoors that my friend personally took. I used the Word design program to design the rest of this ad. I used the program to change the once colored image to black and white. I focused on having strong alignment and grouping to give the design a clean and neat look. I also wanted to have strong typography that really made the message stand out.Message: My message is that there is a Fall Festival being held in Rexburg that all are invited to. I am hoping that people would see my flier and be interested in going to a fun event while giving back to the community at the same time.Audience: My audience is those that want to enjoy a fun time with their family and friends while also donating to a worthy cause.Color scheme and color names: I used white font in front of a dark gray tinted picture to give the design a nice contrast.Top Thing Learned:The top thing that I learned was the importance of strong typography and correct spacing, such as letting and kerning. PhotodesignDescription: This is a Photodesign project that I did using a photo that I took on the campus of BYU- Idaho. The quote is from an Indian Proverb and the design is supposed to encourage others to not procrastinate and to act for themselves today so that they may become something great tomorrow.Process (Programs, Tools, Skills, FOCUS principles): For this design first I took a foreground picture by focusing the camera on the flower and slowly moving the camera away until the background was unfocused. Then I inserted the picture into Photoshop and increased some of the vibrancy as saturation to give it a brighter look. I also used the sharpen tool to sharpen the main flower so that it looked even clearer in comparison to the blurred background. Then I used a split complimentary color scheme to create the background and the color for the text.Message: My message is to be proactive today so that you may become something special in the future.Audience: My audience is anyone that needs motivation to seize the day and become something special now.Top Thing Learned: The top thing that I learned was just how much you can improve the quality of a photo with some easy features in Photoshop.Color scheme and color names: Split Complimentary - Red, Orange and Teal.Title Font Name & Category: Iowan Old Style RomanCopy Font Name & Category: Iowan Old Style RomanThumbnail of original, unedited image insertedDate and location you took the photo(s) 13 Oct 2015 BYU-Idaho Campus

MontageDescription: This is an inspiration design I made using the Latter Day Saint prophet Joseph Smith and a Latter Day Saint temple. The quote is by Joseph Smith referring to the spread of the restored Gospel of Jesus Christ.Process (Programs, Tools, Skills, Steps taken while designing): First I downloaded two images from the internet, one of Joseph Smith Jr. and one of the Oquirrh Mountain temple in Utah. I combined the two images in Photoshop and used a mask to blend the image of Joseph Smith into the background of the temple picture. I used a 100% opacity for the very edges of Joseph Smith Jr.’s torso and a 30% opacity a bit further in to give it a more gradual blend. I then added the text and made the quote white to match the snow on the mountains and the citing to match Joseph Smith Jr’s orange vest.Message: My message is an inspirational message that the Gospel will continue to be spread throughout the world and that nothing besides God himself can stop it.Audience: My audience is mostly those who have a basic understanding of the Latter Day Saint religion.Top Thing Learned: One of the top things I learned from this is just how much you can do with Photoshop. Learning about masks was incredible and really gives you a lot more options when making designs like this.Filter / Colorization used and where it was applied: NoneColor scheme and color names: Complimentary/ Orange, blue and white.Title Font Name & Category: Superclarendon Regular- ModernCopy Font Name & Category: Impact - San Serif

LogoDescription: These are designs for logos that I created for a made up company called Twenty-Twenty Lasik Surgery.Process (Programs, Tools, Skills): For these designs I exclusively used the Adobe Illustrator program. First I brainstormed and created different design ideas for different logos using different color schemes and typography. Then I narrowed it down to my preferred design and modified it into three different logos to give more options and varieties. To create these designs I used the ellipse tool to create the different shapes for the eyes. Then I warped the text using the arc tool to wrap the text around the eye. I used varied stroke sizes to make certain areas stand out.Message: My message is that Twenty-Twenty is a Lasik Surgery company that has the purpose of providing its patients with twenty-twenty vision.Audience: My audience is anyone with poor eyesight that desires to have twenty-twenty vision through Lasik surgery.Top Thing Learned: The top thing that I learned this project is the importance of color schemes and also making a logo that is clear and readable even at small sizes.Color Scheme and Color Names: For these designs I used an analogous color scheme with a light blue, indigo and a dark teal. Title / Body Font Names & Categories: Title-Silom (San Serif) Body-Modern No. 20 (Modern)

The stationery includes a business card and a letterhead.Process (Programs, Tools, Skills): I used Adobe Illustrator to create this stationery. For the business card I used the ellipse tool to create the logo. I used the arc tool to warp the text around the logo to create the shape of an eye. Then I used that logo for both the business card and the letterhead.Message: My message is that “Twenty-Twenty Lasik Surgery” is a Lasik Surgery company that offers high quality Lasik Surgery for those in need of better vision.Audience: Those in need of better visionTop Thing Learned: Typography is extremely important. Your typography should match your message and does not always need to be two different fonts.Color scheme and color names: I used an analogous color scheme with grey, white and light blue.Title Font Name & Category:News Gothic MT (San Serif).
