 Reasons for Voltage Protection :

 Regulation Problems

Load Variations

Faults Conditions

The protection functions depend upon the application

PH/PH or PH/N voltages

Time Delays

Alarms / Tripping

Hz

Keeping in mind:

 Abnormal frequency Conditions

 Under-frequency:

 Insufficient generation

respect to the total demand

 Protection against turbine vibration at

low frequency

 Over-frequency:

Total or partial rejection of load

The frequency elements will be set as a back up

at the Automatic Speed Regulator

PROTECTION

PROT P-P

or P-N

The voltage protection element can

operate either from the measured

Ph-N voltages or from the Ph-Ph voltages

which have been internally calculated.

Zero sequence O/V protection will be always available.

Page 36: P92X Presentation

Voltage and Frequency Relay

U/V blocking are used to block the

functioning of all the protection & control

elements based on frequency, under fault condition

If the threshold is exceeded, all the elements based on

frequency will be blocked, and an alarm

FREQUENCY OUT of ZONE will be generated.

No influence to the

standard U/O voltage

protection elements
