Congratulations to the 2012 Summer Fair Drawing Competition Winners!

We are more than pleased with the passion and interest shown by our young and talented artists. It sure made the making of the decision a difficult one. After much consideration, we have made our choice and are pleased to announce the following winners:

Thank you to everyone who came along and supported the school summer fair.

We are very grateful to all our parents and teachers for your help in setting-up, tidying, manning the stalls, donations/prizes etc.

There were plenty of things to do, obstacle course, fire engine, bouncy castle, BBQ, face painting and plenty of other stalls too.

Without doubt we all had a lot of fun, even the rain could not dampen our spirits!

A massive ‘thank you’ from the PTA Summer Fair team

helpful and quick. The cost to the PTA decreases with the number of tea towels ordered but this only applied per design (a disadvantage of a larger number of designs). However, since we have ordered over 500 tea towels in total, Class Fundraising agreed to give us the price for an order of 400+ per design, thereby increasing our profit considerably.

We have already raised almost £800!

U P D A T E STea Towel Fathers Day Fundraiser (Claire and James Dane)

Following the last two success-ful Christmas cards fundrais-ers we have had a number of requests to do tea towels and we decided that this would be a good present for Father’s Day!

All the children drew beauti-ful self-portraits and we also managed to get some of the children to draw their teach-ers, including Mrs Birch! Due to the number of children, we were obliged to design two tea towels (one for each key stage) and each has a special border to commemorate the Queen’s Diamond Jubilee. The design will also feature the school logo and be in the school colour (maroon). After a slow start, orders poured in and we were delight-ed to order almost 250 of each design. We used Class Fundrais-ing, who have been so great for our Christmas Card project, and they have been incredibly

‘Phil’ the Bag(Mick Derrick)

St Dunstan’s PTA are always look-ing for new ways/opportunities to raise important funds for the school. We have signed up to an innovative fundraising programme called ‘Phil’ the Bag’, which recycles your old and unwanted clothing and turns it into cash for the school.

‘Phil’ the Bag’ not only develops the children’s sense of enterprise but also teaches them about the importance of recycling and how we can protect the environment. This fundraising initiative also allows us to raise funds – the more clothing we collect – adult and children’s clothing, shoes, hand-bags, belts, hats, curtains, towels and bedding - the more money we will receive in exchange for these products.

The funds we raise can be used for vital resources and equipment within the school.

A large number of bags were col-lected and taken to be recycled on Monday 16th July - thank you for

all your support with this.

‘Phil’ the Bag will be running again in the autumn.

Tuck Table(Susan Taylor/Kerry Duffy)

Thank you to all the parents who supplied, set up and sold tuck.

Congratulations to: Year 1 who raised £185.72 Year 3 who raised £166.10 Year 6 who raised £110.75 Year 2 who raised £161.55Year 5 who raised £105.02

PTA Spring Ball (Cecilia Townley and Patricia Reddy)

This year’s PTA Spring Ball was a truly memorable evening.

Gangsters and Flappers dressed in their roaring 20s best and were transported back to the days of the Speakeasy, The Great Gatsby and Jive Jumping Jazz.

After cocktails, Broads and Bruisers settled back to enjoy a

Murder Mystery performance of ‘Cut’, a specially commissioned drama, written by and starring our very own Martin Gardner and the players of Hugh Dunnit Productions.

A delicious dinner was served between acts. The murderer was revealed over coffee, with prizes for the correctly named suspect and motive, and for the most ludicrous answer.

After the raffle prizes had been drawn, the Molls and Mobsters

hit the dance floor with music from DJ Matt Dale.

Thank you to everyone who helped transform the school hall into a Jiving Juice Joint, and transformed it back again in time for Monday morning assembly.

Thank you everyone who helped on the night and thank you everyone who bought tick-ets for the Ball, embraced the theme and supported us to raise over £3,211.16 for the PTA.

DBay... For Sale Board

The PTA would benefit from having more active parents, playing a role in the fundraising activities of the school community. The school is facing budget cuts in the coming years and that fundraising by the PTA really is going to make a significant difference to the resources available to our children.

We would like all parents to offer their help – just an hour a term can make such a difference, there is so much to do. Please come forward with your skills and time available – it could be an hour to shop for one of the events, 30 minutes running a stall, a few calls from home to local businesses to gain raffle prizes.
