What made you decide to become a librarian? I love reading, I love helping people, I love talking to different people and I love craft. It thought I could combine it all and become a librarian. Most significant or interesting thing about your job: I love seeking out a new author for someone, and they embark on a completely different literary jour-ney that they didn’t think they’d ever go on. Name a hobby: I have a large rambling garden that I love to propa-gate plants for. Do you have any hidden talents that most peo-ple don’t know about? I have my truck licence! What one accomplishment am I most proud of? I once helped a library patron applying for a job - they were having trouble setting out their resume and cover letter. About six months later, I saw them in the supermarket; they grabbed me and said, ’Because of you helping me, Jo, I got that job!’ It was a great feeling to have helped a long term un-employed person gain a worthwhile position in their community. Name one thing on your bucket list? To have a holiday. Who are some of your favourite authors? I love the Scandi Noir thrillers with authors such as

Jo Nesbo, Camilla Lackberg and Karin Fossum.

My fascination with this genre started after reading ‘The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo’ by Stig Larsson. I also love the Diana Gabaldon ‘Crosstitch’ series, but maybe it’s more watching it in the TV series. But I digress….I do like a man in a kilt!

Favourite book? Really!?! That’s like asking which child is my favour-ite. It varies from week to week, but I do have a soft spot for Tim Winton’s ‘Cloudstreet’ and I loved read-ing the book ‘Hells only half full’ by Kerry Clarke, who was our guest author at International Women Day a few years ago. How would you promote reading? I love reading to the young children during story time, even if they don’t sit still for long. It’s a great way to introduce children to the world of books. What are you reading at the moment? Dangerous Games by Danielle Steel What is the last book you read? The Good People by Hannah Kent What is your vision for the library? To have Finley Library bustling with groups gather-ing together and using the library as a community hub. A library is not just for reading books, a library is a learning centre.

IN THE NAME OF THE FAMILY

It is 1502 and Rodrigo Borgia, a self-confessed womaniser and master of political corruption is now on the Papal throne as Alexander VI. His daugh-ter Lucrezia, aged twenty-two, already thrice mar-ried and a pawn in her father's plans, is discov-ering her own power. And then there is Cesare Borgia: brilliant, ruthless and increasingly un-stable; it is his relationship with the diplomat Machiavelli which offers a master class on the dark arts of power and politics. What Machia-velli learns will go on to inform his great work of modern politics, The Prince.

DAUGHTERS OF CASTLE DEVERILL

It is 1925 and the war is long over. But much has been lost and life will never truly be the same again. Castle Deverill, cherished home to the Deverill family in the west of Ireland for hundreds of years, has

burned to the ground. But young and flighty Celia Deverill is determined to restore the sad ruin to its former glory. Celia married well and has the wealth, after all, to keep it in the family and she cannot bear to see it stand neglected. But dark shadows are gathering once more, as the financial markets start to shake. And everything that felt so certain is thrown once again into doubt.

THE BEE FRIENDLY GARDEN A grower's hand-book to attracting bees and other beneficial insects. Bees are our most important pollina-tors and they are in decline the world over. They love to live in ur-

ban environments, where it's a short flight path from one type of plant to the next. But conven-tional gardens that favour lawns and pesti-cides over flowers and edible plants are scar-ing the good bugs away. The Bee Friendly Gar-den is a guide for all gardeners great and small

to encouraging bees and other good bugs.

THE DEVIL’S KINGDOM The second in a two-part series. The adventure began in Star of Africa, now ex-SAS major Ben Hope is in the most desperate situation of his life… Held hostage by a des-picable tyrant in the heart of Africa, it's not looking good for Ben

Hope. General Khosa's lust for blood is matched only by his lust for power – and he wants to use Ben's superior military skills to turn his rabble of inexperienced boys into an army of lethal soldiers. If Ben refuses, Khosa will kill the person he loves most. If he cooperates, he'll bring more death and devastation to the world's most

THE LAST MCADAM Passed down through the same family for over a cen-tury, the remote sheep and cattle station of Broken Creek has recently been taken over by global agri-business company, Carnar-von Holdings. Now Carnar-von has sent its best trou-bleshooting manager, Tess Drummond, to turn the property's failing fortunes around - fast. When Tess arrives to take the reins of Broken Creek she's faced with a couple of nasty surprises. For starters, her head stockman, Nate McAdam, happens to be the same gorgeous stranger she hooked up with - and ran out on - a few weeks before. As if that wasn't bad enough, Nate was supposed to inherit Broken Creek until his step-father ran it into the ground.
