Shooting

Sports

Shooting Sports will join the addition of

men's wrestling and cheer/stunt for the 2013-

2014 academic year, bringing the total

number of competitive sports to 17. This year

the shooting sports team will increase support

for the competition of those athletes who

have already been participating.

A weekend of floating the Buffalo National

River and rock climbing at Horseshoe

Canyon Ranch.

Outbackers

Ozarks Outbackers exposes our students to the ultimate recreational environment nestled

between the Ozark and Ouachita Mountains. Student…

…. instructors lead outings such as canoeing,

rock climbing, backpacking, caving,

mountain biking, kayaking, and hiking.

Blake Croxdale Memorial Rendezvous 10/24 - 26

includes a climbing shoe demo—held at 10–4 PM Saturday—slide show and raffle. Proceeds from

the raffle go to benefit the Blake Croxdale scholarship fund. Tickets are sold throughout the day for a

dollar each. Come out and support a good cause in remembrance of a good friend and climber.

During this event Ozarks Outdoors will be rock climbing and rappelling. This is a great time for

getting to know people in our area. And the gear raffle is really sweet!

Horsehead Lake Camping 9/19 - 20 Bring your friends out to enjoy and experience the thrill of camping, canoeing, kayaking and Mountain Biking.

Fern Gulley Climbing 10/10 - 12 A green, secluded valley with boulders and cliffs for climbing. Come spend the weekend on the rock.

Planet Club

A.W.F.’s Conservation Achievement Awards Banquet 8/23

The Arkansas Wildlife Federation’s annual

Conservation Achievement Awards

Banquet features a home cooked meal, an

awards ceremony, and a silent/live auction

with door prizes.

Environmental awareness and education, Planet Club members get involved with tree

planting, Earth Day, recycling and conservation as well as the occasional campout with

Outbackers.

Earth Week Ozarks celebrates the week preceding earth day with a series of wide-ranging events that offer a

variety of fun activities all designed to raise awareness of environmental issues and promote

stewardship of the earth.

Lee Creek Cleanup TBA

of volunteers in this

annual creek cleanup of

the Devil’s Den State

Park waterway.

H.A.W.K. Center Presentation TBA

This engaging

presentation focusses

on what types of

animals H.A.W.K.

works with and the

injuries they deal with

as wall as how you can

get involved.

Bearcat Hollow Restoration 9/26 - 28

This project involves great

food and friends focused

on helping retain, restore,

and enhance the habitat of

Arkansas Wildlife.

Mulberry River Cleanup 9/13

Come join the fun with

hundreds of volunteers in

a Fall clean-up on the

Mulberry River in

conjunction with Keep

Arkansas Beautiful and

the Great Arkansas River

and Waterways Cleanup.

Anglers Red River TBA

Join the Anglers for an awesome

weekend camping and fishing at Red

River, one of the most popular fishing

and floating streams in Arkansas.

Ozarks Anglers' purpose is to hold

recreational fishing meetings, trips and

events for members of the Ozarks

community. In addition, the anglers want to

reach students and introduce them to the

outdoors.

Bull Shoals Lake TBA

Miles upon miles of water way in this

man-made lake gives even the largest

fishing enthusiast a rush. Camp along

the banks of the lake and fish as

much as your heart desires.

Ludwig Lake TBA

Enjoy camping, hiking, swimming, and of

course all the fishing you could possibly want

just a few minutes from campus!

Biology Major

If you find yourself looking at an animal or plant

and asking “I wonder what this is?” Biology

may be the track for you!

Ecology & Wildlife Biology Track

If you’re interested in working with animals in

the field, the ecology and wildlife biology track

will prepare you to continue on to graduate

school or go to work in an entry level position.

Biology: Secondary Education Certification Track

If you plan to teach biology at the high school

level, you should choose the secondary

education certification track.

Environmental Studies Major

A unique degree focusing on the study of both the

natural process of the physical environment as well

as the social and political contexts that effect and are

affected by the environment.

Health Science Major

The focus of this major is on the education and

promotion of health in all populations.

Outdoor Leadership Minor This minor is a multidisciplinary concentration

designed to use Ozarks experience to empower

students to become future leaders skilled in

experiential learning and risk management.

Physical Education Major The Physical Education Program services both

those students who are interested in a career in

physical education with either a teaching or

non-teaching focus.

Mountain Biking Workshop 9/20

Learn how to prepare bikes for the trails and

then some techniques to give you the most

out of every ride.

Kayaking Workshop 10/22

From paddling to self-rescuing techniques

like kayak rolling, this workshop is just for

those that love being on the water.

Canoe Camping Workshop 3/6 - 8

Spend a weekend along the Buffalo getting to

know the basics of camping from a canoe.

Rock Climbing Workshop 11/21 - 23

Experienced and novice climbers alike will enjoy

this workshop that goes over trad climbing, gear

techniques, and technical skills.
