The refrigerator temperature wttlvary dependingon the quantity of the food stored and on thefrequency with which the door is opened.To turn the control to the "O" position, rotatethe control knob to the narrowest point on thegraduated dial, After defrosting and it therefrigerator has been left out of use for sometime, set the conlrol to maximum for 2 to 3 hoursbefore turntng to the desired position, litherefrigerator is not to be used for long timeperiods, disconnect the plug and leave the doorpartially open. Ice Cubes
Ice cube trayis flexible, Twist trayto remove Ice cubes_If the Icecube trayts frozen hard to the Fig. Cevaporatorsurface, runa little waterover the tray. Neveruse a knife or othermetalInstrumentto remove Ice cube tray because thismay damage the evaporator. (Fig C)
Cleanlng
To clean the inside, use a soft cloth and a solutionof a tablespoon of baking soda to one quart ofwater, or a mild soap suds solution, or some milddetergent. Wash ice cube tray, drip tray, and glideout she_ves in a mild detergent solution, then dryand wipe with a soft cloth. Clean the outside with asofl damp clothand some mild detergent orappliance cleaner°
Defroatlng
Thls refrigerator is equipped with a "Push Button"(semi-automatic) defrost thermostat system,Toactivate the defrost cycle, simply push (in) the reddefrost button located In the center of the controlknob/diaL (do not turn the control knob/dial tozero = off) The defrost cyc{e is initiated immediately,When defrosting is compfefe, the "Push Button" willrelease (pep-out) automalicalfy and resume normaloperating conditions at the same temperaturesettIng_
NOTE: If the "Push Button = is activated (pushed-in)accidentally, tt witl not be possible to "manually"pull-out the push button.(deactivate the defrostcycle) You must either let the defrost cycle run it'scourse or;
" Apply (hold) a dishcloth soaked in hot wateragainst the thermoslat capillary line and bracket,located on the underside of the freezercompartment. The heat transfer from the dish clothwill cause a temperature rise on the thermostatcapillary', (sensing line) causing the inlernal contactsto close. Thls wilt resume normal operatingconditions.It may take several minutes and/or repeatapplications before the push button writ release.
Defrosting of your refrigerator should take placewhenever tce build-up inside the freezercompadment reaches 1/4" (dram) thick. Defrostingmpy lake a few hours, depending on the amount ofaccumulated ice and amblent Indoor temperature.To speed-up the defrosting process, re,hove el!frozen foods from the freezer section Leaving thedoor partially ajar for a "short" period of time willalso speed-up the process°IMPORTANT: You must remember to close the
refrigerator door before the defrost cycle terminatesand normal operating condit|ons resumeautomatlcally. The drip tray should be in positiondirectly below the freezer compartment to catchevaporated water during defrosting.
IMPORTANT NOTICE: Never use sharp or pointedinstruments to defrost/remove ice from theevaporator/freezer compartment, Theevaporator/freezer compartment containsrefrigerated gas ltnes and ;f acctdentllypunched/pierced, will render the refrigeratoriri'operable and "void" the manufac'turerswarranty.DO NO ALLOW THE REFRIGERATOR TOCONTINUE OPERATION IF THE FREEZERCOMPARTMENT IS PIERCED.
After defrosting is complete, set the control tomaximum for 2 to 3 hours before turning to thedesired position. When the refrigerator is not to beused for a long period of time, disconnect theappliance from the electrical supply and leave thedoor partially open. This will help to reduce moldand mildew buitd-up_
NOTE: Wait 3 to 5 minutes before attempting toreetarl the refrigerator if operation has beeninterrupted
Vacation Time
For short vacation pedods, leave the control knobsat their usual settings During tonger ab§ences, (a)remove atl foods, (b) disconnect from electricaloutiet, (c) clean the refdgerator thoroughly, includingdefrost pan, (d) leave door open to avoid poss_leformations of condensate, .mold or odors.
Power Failure
Most power failures are corrected within an hour ortwo and will not affect your refrigeratortemperatures However, you should minimize thenumber of door openings while the power is off.During power failures of longer duration, take stepsto protect your food by placing d.ry Ice on top ofpackages.
