WHAT IS A SURVEY ? A survey is a systematic method ofcollecting data from a population ofinterest. It tends to be quantitative innature and aims to collect informationfrom a sample of the population suchthat the results are representative ofthe population.
It involves constructing a set ofquestions that are either asked bymeans of a questionnaire or through aninterview .

THE PURPOSE OF THESURVEY
The purpose of a survey is to collectquantitative information on the perceptions
and opinions of a sample of people whichadequately represent the population ofinterest.
They are appropriate for measuringpeoples perceptions, opinions, knowledge,attitudes, behavioral intentions, and
behaviors.
