Since our bodies are vehicles for realizing God’s will, we should
present them alive to God.
1.This is a summary of Romans 6-8.
2.Our service to God should be driven by the realization that God has not given us what we have deserved.
3.God wants us to have a religious
orientation of life; we are believer-priests to God.
4.The presentation of our bodies in service is to be a living sacrifice.
5.A living sacrifice can only be
accomplished by a life focused on the things of the Spirit.
6.In light of all Paul has taught, service
to God is rational, related to our minds. Rom 6:11
7.Change in our lives involves a process; it is not a quick-fix.
8.Because of our flesh, conformity to
the world is natural and easy (Rom. 7:21; Gal. 5:21).
9.We change when we renew our
minds. That is the battle ground!
10.This “renewal” involves the
“renovation” of our thinking, to think as Jesus does.
11.When this “renovation” of thinking takes place, we realize God’s will in
our lives.
12a.It is when we renew our minds that
we see that God’s will for us is a good thing.
12b.When I do God’s will this way, I come to realize how truly magnificent it is.
13a.Of course, failure to do God’s will
result in dissatisfaction.
13b.Christians who don’t renew their
minds see little difference between their lives and those of unbelievers.
14.In fact, a Christian life lived apart from the Spirit’s power may seem worse than not being a Christian.
15a.When we are disobedient, we are
loaded down with guilt, self-hatred, and frustration.
15b.Trying to be moral without power leads to defeat, depression, and
discouragement.
Since our bodies are vehicles for realizing God’s will, we should
present them alive to God.
