The capacity of users to manipulate information and
communications of any format and kind from one
single, common interface.

Convergence means:
Integration of voice and data
Building up of ICT, from the telecoms, media and IT
industries
Content run over different access platforms
Convergence of terminal equipment

Convergence is leading to:
Structural changes at the business, economic and social levels
The placing of content production and aggregation at the
center of ICT dynamics

The development of the World Wide Web and of e-commerce

Data traffic is becoming dominant in fixed networks
Broadcasting uses same infraestructure as private
