Aladina began in 2005, but was an idea four years prior, when our president Paco Arango asked a friend for a project that could ¨get his hands dirty¨. Paco always says, “I want to donate my time because I have been very fortunate in my life”.

Paco visited the Hospital Niño Jesús one Wednesday afternoon in 2001 and he never stopped going back.

Aladina celebrates over 10 years of service knowing that they help over 1,500 children and their families every year at 15 hospitals throughout Spain.

Thanks Aladina for the magical moments that helped us fight this

disease with laughter.

Where We Work

We also collaborate with the following hospitals:

What We Do

Aladina provides important renovations and improvements to public hospitals to make the patients’ stay more comfortable. We also help to cover the expenses of cancer for families with fewer financial resources.

We offer free programs, both in and out of the hospital, dedicated specifically to psychological support for the children with cancer and their families.

Aladina supports and cares for the families from diagnosis to discharge, especially during the most difficult times.

Physical exercise not only improves the mood of children suffering from cancer but it also positively affects the healing process. Aladina counts on their physical health and wellness doctor to give each child a personalized training regimen that works for them.

Many recovered patients have health issues related to their illness and while exercising is key, it is not always easy to find suitable forms of exercise for them.

Since 2017, Aladina provides children and their parents or caretakers with personalized training sessions away from the hospital, but supervised by an experienced doctor.

Physical Exercise

Five psycho-oncologists specialize in giving support to the children, teens, and their families. This service is free to the families and Aladina also offers services both in and out of the hospital for family therapy, patients’ siblings, and for mourning.

Psychological Care

Aladina has an extraordinary team of volunteers who come every afternoon, bringing magic into the hospitals. Our volunteers play an important role in making the children and their families’ stay even better.

What We Do

Page 6: Over 10 years of giving the gift of smiles · It’s a win-win. A good, positive, family oriented movie that at the same time helps children in need. Helping has never been so easy

The foundation gives special attention to families with limited resources when their child is diagnosed with cancer. Aladina attends to the needs of the family, whether they are material or economic needs, as a result of their child’s diagnosis. In every case, we work with social workers to figure out the best aid possible for each and every family.

Extraordinary Aid

Aladina collaborates with the foundation ‘Porque Viven’, who works with young patients who are terminally ill. Fundación Aladina provides ‘Porque Viven’ with a driver who travels with the medical team that visits the patients at home.

Palliative Care

Since 2011, Fundación Aladina has awarded a young oncologist at Hospital Niño Jesús with a scholarship to continue their work for another year. In 2015, Aladina expanded this scholarship by awarding another to an oncologist at the Hospital Vall D’Hebron in Barcelona. These scholarships not only help the oncologists to continue their studies but also the oncology team and, of course, the children and teens with cancer.

Aladina also grants a scholarship to a neuropsychologist who works with patients suffering from brain tumors and sequelae of treatment.

Children’s Programs

Serious Fun Children’s Network

Aladina has been working with the Serious Fun Children´s network since 2006. This collaboration has made it possible for more than 100 Spanish kids with cancer to enjoy a magical camping trip to Barretstown (Ireland) or Dynamo Camp (Italy).

All of the proceeds collected from Paco Arango’s movie “The Healer”, will allow us to send 1,000 sick children to have an amazing experience at one of these camps over the next 5 years!

At these camps, the children participate in activities they have only dreamed of such as rock climbing, horseback riding, archery and many others. Above all the children get to live and meet other children from around the world who are experiencing the same challenges as them and work together to re-build their self-esteem!

When I arrived I was in a wheelchair and didn’t think I would be able to do many

activities, but I could! At night we would talk about our experiences and it was super cool because other

campers had gone through what I had.

The Healer

“The Healer” is the second movie directed by Paco Arango. It is the first film ever to be me made with the intention of helping children with cancer all over the world.

Wherever the film is shown, 100%t of the funds go to local charities. It has been in a great hit in 13 countries (#1 in box office and an average of 12 weeks in cinemas) and raised around $3 millions for seriously ill children.

It is much more than a movie, it’s a social movement. The public’s response to the film and the campaign associated with it to help local cause is astounding.

It’s a win-win. A good, positive, family oriented movie that at the same time helps children in need. Helping has never been so easy and we’re successfully doing it!
