1 - Introduction
Ulteo OVD is a server based computing application and desktop delivery solution. All OVD clients can run
seamlessly on the LAN or the WAN (corporate networks or through the Internet).
This document explains how to access and use the OVD environment from a user workstation provided by
University of Washington.
2 - Pre-requisites
2.1. Sun/Oracle java
OVD supports only the Sun/Java environment (OpenJDK is not supported). The user workstation must have the
32bit java environment installed.

Once installed, the Web browser must be restarted.

2.2. Browser support
Any recent browser that supports Java may be supported, tested browsers:
- Apple Safari
- Google Chrome
- Mozilla FireFox
- Microsoft Internet Explorer
3 - OVD Desktop access
Either http and http access is available to the environment, but in order to protect your password, https is higly
recommended.

A security warning will show up regarding the SSL certificate as this one is not signed, just accept the warning
and continue.

The OVD java check launches and checks java requirements, then on first access, the java applet is downloaded
(the applet is up to 2MB, and may take some time on slow Internet link)
Enter LDAP credentials and click connect

4 - Using the Linux Virtual desktop
4.1. Printing
The OVD environment remaps any locally declared printer (physically connected or network) on the user
workstation into a universal printer driver based on PDF.
Example:

4.2. Files management
The OVD environment remaps the local workstation logical rives or desktop. A user is then able to save a file
from the remote OVD environment to the local disk (or even a USB stick) and vice-versa
