Outram School Newsletter Volume 1 Number 8 – 26 March 2015 OUTRAM SCHOOL VISION – A school where children strive for excellence, love learning, develop their passions and reach their potential Dear Parents Tēnā koutou, kia ora koutou katoa. It was a pleasure to be at St Clair last Friday with a strong group of Outram athletes for the 2015 Otago Primary School Triathlon. Our students joined 412 other Year 5 to 8 pupils, from 31 different schools. With heavy swells flooding the St Clair Salt Water Pool, the triathlon became a quick paced and fiercely competitive duathlon run over the run and bike legs. Our Outram team experienced their most successful year in the four year history of the event. Gabby Kakahi - first Year 7 Girls individual race. Nick Casey - second Year 5 Boys individual race. Demi McAlwee – third Year 5 Girls individual race. Jaime Reid, Kylie Gale, Georgia Robertson - first Year 5 Girls team race. Ezra Holmes, Josh Warnock, Connor MacKenzie - second Year 6 Boys team race. Riley Miller, Brooke McAlwee, Isla Edgecombe - third Year 8 Girls team race. All the students, individual and team, competed strongly and were well positioned in each event. Congratulations to everyone and thank you to our parent supporters. On Tuesday, the first of our Year 5 and 6 camps headed away with Room 7 boarding the bus for their week at Pounawea. The texts I have received from camp are reporting a great week and I am confident all will return with big smiles on their faces and stories to tell. I am looking forward to joining Room 6 for their first day of their camp on Monday. Both Room 6 and 7 will have the opportunity to share their adventures at the first two assemblies of Term 2. The Black Caps have certainly captured the imagination of all. At a young age, our students are experiencing a wave of success that some of us have waited a life time to see. To show our support for the Black Caps, and to send positive vibes across the Tasman, this Friday is ‘Black out Friday’. Children are invited to wear black; black t-shirts, black caps, Black Cap supporters clothing. Let’s show the Black Caps our support! Dear Parents Tēnā koutou, kia ora koutou katoa.
All the students, individual and team, competed strongly and were well

parent supporters.

What is the ANZ Olympic Schools Programme
ANZ has developed the ANZ Olympic Schools Programme with the New Zealand Olympic Committee to inspire and motivate New Zealand's youth, through the magic and celebration of
the Olympic Games. Schools will be provided with resources and merchandise to provide opportunities, activities and incentives for students to live the Olympic Values. In addition to the great resources schools can receive, ANZ has also tailored the programme so
their staff can personally help schools earn credits to spend at the ANZ Awards Centre and also secure the chance to have an Olympic Ambassador visit the school.
ANZ staff will be encouraging people within their school communities to support their school and come to ANZ for their next home loan. For every home loan drawn down a school can earn credits to spend on items from the ANZ Awards Centre, items such as sports equipment or computers. As an example an eligible home loan drawn down by someone linked to your
school to the value of $50k or more will entitle the school to 800 credits. 800 credits equates to approximately $400 of spending power at the ANZ Awards centre. If you would like to support our school with this programme,
Michelle Pennington Branch Manager 03 457 0122 or Liz Dougherty Senior Personal
Banker 03 457 0120 would love to assist you.
