15 If their being cast away is the reconciling of the world, what will their acceptance be but life from the dead? 16 For if the first fruit is holy, the lump is also holy. And if the root is holy, so are the branches.17 If some of the branches were broken off, and you, being a wild olive tree, were grafted in among them, and with them became a partaker of the root and fatness of the olive tree,18 Do not boast against the branches. But if you do boast, remember that you do not support the root, but the root supports you.

3 Thus says the LORD: I will return to Zion, and dwell in the midst of Jerusalem. Jerusalem shall be called the City of Truth, the Mountain of the LORD of hosts, the Holy Mountain.

WHO IS THE LORD ZEALOUS FOR? WHY?

WHAT WILL JERUSALEM BE CALLED? WHY?

READ: ISAIAH 1:2626 I will restore your judges as at the first, and your counselors as at the beginning. Afterward you shall be called the city of righteousness, the faithful city.

READ: JEREMIAH 33:1616 In those days Judah will be saved, and Jerusalem will dwell safely. This is the name by which she will be called: THE LORD OUR RIGHTEOUSNESS. (NKJ)

1 It shall come to pass in the latter days that the mountain of the LORD'S house shall be established on the top of the mountains, and shall be exalted above the hills; and peoples shall flow to it.

4 Thus says the LORD of hosts: Old men and old women shall again sit in the streets of Jerusalem, each one with his staff in his hand because of great age.

WHAT WILL HAPPEN TO THE OLD FOLKS? WHY?

READ: ISAIAH 65:2020 No more shall an infant from there live but a few days, nor an old man who has not fulfilled his days. For the child shall die one hundred years old, but the sinner being one hundred years old shall be accursed.

WHY IS THIS MARVELOUS IN THEIR EYES?

READ: PSALMS 118:2323 This was the LORD'S doing; it is marvelous in our eyes.

READ: JEREMIAH 11:44 I commanded your fathers in the day I brought them out of the land of Egypt, from the iron furnace, Saying, Obey My voice, and do according to all that I command you; so shall you be My people, and I will be your God, (NKJ)

READ: EZEKIEL 11:19-2019 I will give them one heart. I will put a new spirit within them. I will take the stony heart out of their flesh and give them a heart of flesh,20 That they may walk in My statutes and keep My judgmentsand do them. They shall be My people and I will be their God.

READ: HEBREWS 8:1010 This is the covenant that I will make with the house of Israel after those days, says the Lord. I will put My laws in their mind and write them on their hearts. I will be their God, and they shall be My people.

10 For before these days there were no wages for man nor any hire for beast; there was no peace from the enemy for whoever went out or came in; for I set all men, everyone, against his neighbor.

WHAT PROPHETS DID THE LORD SEND?

READ: EZRA 5:11 The prophet Haggai and Zechariah the son of Iddo, prophets, prophesied to the Jews who were in Judah and Jerusalem, in the name of the God of Israel, who was over them.

WHAT DID THE PROPHETS TELL THEM?

READ: HAGGAI 2:44 Be strong, Zerubbabel, says the LORD. Be strong, Joshua, son of Jehozadak, the high priest. Be strong, all you people of the land, says the LORD. Work; for I am with you, says the LORD of hosts.

WHY DID THESE THINGS HAPPEN?

READ: HAGGAI 1:9-109 You looked for much but indeed it came to little. When you brought it home, I blew it away. WHY? says the LORD of hosts. BECAUSE OF MY HOUSE THAT IS IN RUINS, WHILE EVERY ONE OF YOU RUNS TO HIS OWN HOUSE.10 Therefore the heavens above you withhold the dew and the earth withholds its fruit.

WHAT DOES THE LORD WANT THEM TO CONSIDER?

READ: HAGGAI 2:15-1915 Carefully consider from this day forward: from before stone was laid upon stone in the temple of the LORD--16 Since those days, when one came to a heap of twenty ephahs, there were but ten; when one came to the wine vat to draw out fifty baths from the press, there were but twenty.17 I struck you with blight and mildew and hail in all the labors of your hands; yet you did not turn to Me, says the LORD.18 Consider now from this day forward, from the twenty-fourth day of the ninth month, FROM THE DAY THAT THE FOUNDATION OF THE LORD'S TEMPLE WAS LAID-- consider it:19 Is the seed still in the barn? As yet the vine, the fig tree, the pomegranate, and the olive tree have not yielded fruit. But FROM THIS DAY FORWARD I WILL BLESS YOU. (NKJ)

13 It shall come to pass that just as you were a curse among the nations, O house of Judah and house of Israel, so I will save you, and you shall be a blessing. Do not fear, let your hands be strong.

14 For thus says the LORD of hosts: Just as I determined to punish you when your fathers provoked Me to wrath, says the LORD of hosts, And I would not relent,

15 So again in these days I am determined to do good to Jerusalem and to the house of Judah. Do not fear.

I will deliver them to trouble among all the kingdoms of the earth-- to be a curse, an astonishment, a hissing, and a reproachamong all the nations where I have driven them,19 Because they have not heeded My words, says the LORD, which I sent to them by My servants the prophets, rising up early and sending them; neither would you heed, says the LORD.

READ: JEREMIAH 44:2222 The LORD could no longer bear it, because of the evil of your doings and because of the abominations which you committed. Therefore your land is a desolation, an astonishment, a curse, and without an inhabitant, as it is this day.
