appreciated and may be placed in the offerto-ry basket in an

brothers in need, we will always have nearly 100 com-plete,
nutritious meals and soups in our freezer. Meals are available for
delivery to the homes of those who may be com-ing home from the
hospital, or who are just struggling in some way. If you or a
parishioner you know needs a little help from our kitchen, contact
the Parish Office and leave a message for Patty Schwerin, and she
will get in touch with our meal team and delivery team. Just reheat
and relax, and know that you are loved!—To make our frozen homemade
meals more available to you or your family members, you may stop by
our table at the St. Catherine Food Bank on the first and third
Saturdays during December from 8:30 am to 10:30 am.

REJOICING "(The desert) will bloom with abundant flowers and
rejoice with joyful song." "Rejoice in the Lord always!" "Shout for
joy, O daughter Zion!" The Scriptures for the Third Sunday of
Advent proclaim their message in no uncertain terms: Rejoice! Joy
is all around us and our celebration of Advent calls us to discover
it. The joy that the Scripture passages speak about is not a joy
that equates with hilarious laughter. It is a joy that comes from a
security with our God, those around us, and our place in the world.
It is the joy Isaiah describes when he writes, "I rejoice heartily
in the Lord, in my God is the joy of my soul." It is a joy that
cannot be bought or obtained from artificial highs. It is a joy
that comes from our living faith in a living God. It is the joy we
feel as we approach the birth of our Savior and remember the
awesome beauty of what happened on that cold Bethlehem night.
Rejoice!

the present time, Bap-tisms will be scheduled only one child/family

the number of people allotted by the current mandated requirements
for capacity for the church where the Bap-tism is to take place.
Social distancing must be observed and face masks are required.

“O” ANTIPHONS The Roman Church has been singing the "O"
Antiphons since at least the eighth century. They are the antiphons
that accom-pany the Magnificat canticle of Evening Prayer from
December 17-23. They are a magnificent theology that uses ancient
bibli-cal imagery drawn from the messianic hopes of the Old
Testa-ment to proclaim the coming Christ as the fulfillment not
only of Old Testament hopes, but present ones as well. Their
repeat-ed use of the imperative "Come!" embodies the longing of all
for the Divine Messiah. (usccb.org) In Latin , the first letters of
the titles, read in reverse order, form the acrostic Ero cras,
which translates to “I will be with you tomorrow.” (The Magnificat
Advent Companion) Dec. 17: O Sapientia (Wisdom) O wisdom, you came
forth from the mouth of the Most High, and reached from end to end,
and disposed of all things sweetly and mightily: come and teach us
the way of prudence. Amen. Dec. 18: O Adonai (Lord) O Adonai, and
leader of the house of Israel, you appeared to Moses in the flame
of the burning bush and gave him the law on Sinai: come, and with
an outstretched arm, redeem us. Amen. Dec. 19: O Radix Jesse (Roof
of Jesse) O Root of Jesse, who stood as a sign for the people,
before you kings shall remain silent, and to you the Gentiles shall
make supplication: come to deliver us, and delay not. Amen. Dec.
20: O Clavis David (Key of David) Dec. 21: O Oriens (Dayspring)
Dec. 22: O Rex Gentium (King of Nations) Dec. 23: O Emmanuel
(God-with-us)
