Delicious treats, such as taffy apples and everything pumpkin spiced, are all around us! What a perfect time to introduce our new Chef Manager, Michael Sahade. Michael was the Chef Manager at a large independent living facility for four years. His goal here at Belmont is to provide a delicious experience in our dining room. Michael was born in Rutherford, New Jersey, but grew up in Seattle Washington. He has one sister who is two years younger than him. Her name is Daniela; she is a project manager for a commercial real estate company, and currently lives in New York City. Michael experienced the desire to cook and create great food when he was very young, about eight years old. His grandmother was born in Rome, Italy, and she was one of his first teachers. Michael’s father’s family is from Argentina although the only Argentinean dish that he makes is empanadas. Michael really enjoys working with fresh seafood. Because he grew up in Seattle there were always fresh crabs, mussels, salmon, razor clams and halibut. Mmmm ... all that great seafood, pretty much in his backyard. Michael then traveled clear across the country to Providence Rhode Island. He attended Johnson and Wales University, an excellent culinary school. He met his wife Kimberly there; she also has a culinary degree. Currently, she is a General Manager for Macy’s in Water Tower Place on Michigan Avenue. (However, she now has another job, a new mom!) Michael‘s hobbies include golfing, fishing, and travelling. He is also a football fan. The important question, what football team does he root for? Michael is loyal to the Seattle Seahawks but can’t help but be a Bears Fan as well. However, Michael’s newest and favorite hobby is his first child, a son named William. William was born on July 29, 2015. Michael and Kimberly have an exciting year ahead; we welcome all three of them to the Belmont Village family. Maureen Michael and Maureen

The recipes werevaried with different meats and vegetables.Gloria said, “My recipe is from a can of beansprouts 60 years ago!” After tasting both dishes,it was unanimous that both recipes weredelicious and the cook-off a tie!!!
